        Statcast LIES.

EDIT: Actually, I'm going to give them a bit more benefit of the doubt than my estimation. The ball's launch angle wasn't anywhere near as high as I had initially imagined. 450 feet max.

But yes, balls are still undoubtedly juiced.

Basically anything that Sanchez brings back to plate form left to right Hernandez calls it a strike if it is close (I'm not complaining).

This is so weird. I don't even know how to feel about it. It's just odd.

I mean hey, the 6-7-8 spots are up in the bottom of the 5th, so they can pinch-hit for him since the pitcher's spot is due clea--ooooooooooh wait that's right.

No it's definitely his fault. Sanchez looks like a high schooler trying to frame. Hernandez is just garbage at his job

Poor color graph scheme, can't easily differentiate between red and orange.

I used to have this umpire always explain that home plate is just another base you must legally touch to score, and has nothing to do with the strike zone. He contended what he called was always right, because his strike zone is "up here" (as he points to his mind).

It sounds silly, but I like ripping on Angel Hernandez. I want what's coming for him at some point, but I don't want it to be coming for everybody else as well. Don't make him being bad at his job the rule, leave it as the exception. Most umpires are very good, and I like giving/taking and some personality to strikes.

People will not like the height of a robot ump's strike zone, not just the high side where it can clip the back part of the top, but also the first curveball that hits the dirt and clipped the bottom front of the zone that's called a strike will bring people up in arms.

Weird listening to Matty V calling a game. I've heard him way more in MLB The Show than anything else. As soon as I hear him calling anything in real life it feels like I'm listening to the video game.
