    9/14 - 9/27 Game Discussion Thread

Last one of the regular season.

    Damn that went by fast

Should be interesting though the playoff races due to the expanded playoffs.

It really has flown by...and while I know it's been anything but "normal", I have thoroughly enjoyed it and am loving the races/performances. I think the post-season is going to be awesome!

All that said...I really, really, really hope that by Spring Training 2021 we are back to normal and can get 162 game season with fans in the stands.

I hope MLB sees that expanded playoffs was a great idea and keeps it going forward.

However, change the 2 teams per division rule. Astros right now are both a top 6 seed despite being under .500. Even NL Central 2nd seed isn't going to finish so good as of now.

8 teams make it, and first 2 rounds of playoffs are 5 game series (LWC and LDS rounds). Before the typical 7 game series.

Looks like the blowouts continue into this thread.

Absolutely hate the expanded playoffs (have a dominant regular season and start flipping coins against .500 teams, yay!) and am afraid it'll be made permanent with the next CBA. Some of these other changes though (NL DH, runner on 2nd in extra innings) are good imo and I hope they're extended past this year.

runner on 2nd is awful. The worst new rule implemented.

Fair enough that some people hate it; was skeptical of it myself and thought it was super gimmicky, but it's made extra innings more enjoyable imo. Just think in general pace of play and game length is an increasingly huge problem for baseball and this is one way to mitigate it.

Cards and Brewers found a way to play nearly two full games regardless of the 2020 rules today - one game went to the 8th and the other to the 9th.

I can't see them keeping the playoffs this large. That would be awful.

8 might be pushing it, but more than 5 for sure. At least 6, 7 at most. 8 makes sense from a scheduling standpoint, because I'm not sure how a 6 or 7 team playoff could work by having a BYE for the 1 seed and maybe even 2 seed. Would that BYE go on for 3 or 5 games?

1 game playoff for the 4v5 seed just seems to short, and the 6 seed is often also a real good team as well.

I'll just never be a fan of diluting the regular season in order to bring more teams into the race. It's supposed to be an accomplishment to reach the postseason in sports, not an all inclusive event.

Yep - I wasn't going to rain on Maj's excitement, but I honestly HATE more teams in the playoffs in baseball (heck, I'd do away with wild cards if I could). IMO, 162 games is your tournament and the cream rises to the top...this year made sense with a 60 game schedule, but I DO NOT want to see it stick.

Only way it sticks is if the owners and all agree to shorten the regular season.

Mariners vs Giants game has been postponed amd will be played in SF due to...poor air quality in Seattle.

Of all reasons a game has been postponed and moved to a diff location , this is more normal than most.
