Pretty typical days off built in after opening day in case of weather delay's in the northern cities.

I think what’s different is we normally get a night game the night before to kick off the season, then most teams play day two but there will be one or two series that start day three. That way the schedule isn’t so empty the day after most teams have their opening day

NESN score overlay is really really nice.

See Ballys, it's not that hard.

I did not know about the runner crossing back rule. You'd think once the ball leaves the yard it would be a moot point, but I guess not.
Well, just like the player has to legally touch all bases, everything else applies too. Otherwise I guess a player could just go into the dugout.

The real question is whether a player is legally allowed to stay on any base they'd like after hitting a ball out. Why would someone want to do this? The only two reasons I can think of are to finish off a cycle (lol), or continue the psychological perception of a rally when down by more than one run in the last inning. As you may know, a home run in that case is a "rally killer" haha.

O's come away with the shutout at Fenway.
but JD shouldn't have seen one pitch in the zone. I'd have given him the unintentional intentional walk lol

Why? Last inning, down by more than one run. A walk is as good as a homer in that scenario.

In fact, I was questioning J.D. trying to stretch his hit out into a double. There is virtually no added advantage to doing so, whereas there is infinite risk in getting out and losing the ballgame by trying. I always tell my softball players in that scenario if you have to slide to get in, then it's not a risk worth taking. He could take second base on the very next pitch by defensive indifference.

I feel like Boston getting on the board helps build momentum quicker. and when you're down to your last out time isn't on your side to build mo. the last place I wanted to see him his one play closer to home w/o a ball even being put in play. which is where JD wound up on the passed ball. I guess it all comes down to different strategies can work to get the W. I just feel like this O's team needs momentum to win and the last thing they needed was a 3-1 score and still needing an out, with the tying run at the plate. (provided the batter after JD brought him home. thankfully he didn't) the Orioles got a long way to go before they know how to win. I'd be surprised if they have a lot of shutouts along the way this year. I definitely thought they needed it today, especially the way Fenway plays lol

Well, as I explained in my post prior to yours, home runs in that situation can almost be a "rally killer."

The only thing you'd really want to avoid in this situation is a possible force out, but like I said, even if he walks/singles, one pitch later he would easily take 2B without even an attempt to get him out.

And once again, his run means nothing. The only thing that matters is that he doesn't get out before the tying run comes up to bat.

yeah, that's sound reasoning. I definitely usually put too much stock into momentum sometimes lol
