I don’t remember seeing this before, but I’ve now seen it several times now this year where the Mets over shift and then they give up a hit because guys are playing so close and a ball is hit between two guys and they get in each other’s way

Too bad our resident Phillies fans no longer come around or are banned. They must be enjoying playing the Braves this year. Atlanta is the only reason Philly doesn't have a losing record this year. It's amazing how bad the Braves have been this year. We're 20% of the way through the year, too, so it is time to start believing these teams are what they seem to be.
It's not a lack of talent, that's for sure. Something is going on that has the entire team playing not comfortable.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: 5/3 - 5/16 Game Discussion Thread
There was some sort of commotion in the tunnel of the Mets dugout when the Mets came off the field after the play I posted about two posts above. Supposedly Lindor and Jeff McNeil got in a brawl. Lindor hit the game thing HR a few batters later so maybe they need to keep fightingComment

Jack Flaherty improves to 6-0 on the season. He also hit his first homerun.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: 5/3 - 5/16 Game Discussion Thread
I've only watched 2+ innings of this Braves-Phillies series so far this weekend and I've already seen 4 walks by Braves starters.
....this Braves team is hard to watch right now. First 2 batters walk in the inning walk, the next 2 both get to 3 balls but strike out, and then the 5th guy hits a soft line out to 2nd.Last edited by KSUowls; 05-08-2021, 07:12 PM.Comment

Re: 5/3 - 5/16 Game Discussion Thread
Acuna very nearly hit on pitch 1. Does get hit on pitch 2 in nearly the exact same location. Hard to believe that it was intentional in that situation, but that's still pretty odd to happen after that reliever had easy command through his first 1.2 IP. Edit - Though Acuna did homer off of him last time the 2 faced each other.
Braves GM is really putting the team in a tough position with the shallow bench that they have been running with all year. Only 3 position players on the bench to start today, and 1 is the backup catcher.Last edited by KSUowls; 05-08-2021, 09:10 PM.Comment

Re: 5/3 - 5/16 Game Discussion Thread
Jays up 5-0
Astros slowly make it 5-4
Semien with a 3 run HR and now its 8-4!
Now for the interesting stat cast I never knew existed. It can determine if a HR would've been a HR in other ballparks.
Turns out the Semien HR would've been a HR in a total of 1/30 ballparks. The ballpark he hit it in (Minute Maid Park).
I wonder how a stat like that could help a teams analytic department. Using various algorithms to see every players "real HR total" based on the percentage that would've been a HR in every ballpark, and even doing it for select ballpark dimensions (such as if you're looking for a guy from the NL who you want to see how he'd likely hit in an AL East ballpark).Last edited by Majingir; 05-08-2021, 09:19 PM.Comment
