Re: About the Red Sox comments

What I find ironic is how they were hating on Nomar last season and wishing and wanting to get A-Rod now they are dumping on him. I loved how A-Rod answered back though classy move on his part. Gave the Sox no ammo to run with.

This is so stupid. Does anyone realize how much the media is fanning the flames on this whole Red Sox vs Yankees rivalry? Obviously both sides are being asked a lot of questions about each other, especially in regards to Arod. Should they just not respond? It's not like the Red Sox are going out of their way to talk trash about the entire Yankees team. Arod has been singled out by the media, thus has been singled out by the Red Sox.

And you don't think the Yankees have been asked questions about the Red Sox? Yet they haven't responded.

I don't really care if they trash Arod or not, but it is the Red Sox doing it, not the media.

Re: About the Red Sox comments

              From personal experience.

Jeter and Williams are very approachable in public. jeter was sitting at a bar in Tampa last year with some friends the night before ST started.

Im kind of a loud guy, and had my Sox jersey and hat on, and just made a grand ol entrance for myself. Jeter looked my way and grinned/chuckled. I said in a overstated Boston accent, "Yankeeeeeeeeees Suuuuuuuuuuuck!" and pointed at him in a joking manner. He pointed back and said you should beat us first then laughed and went back to drinking his beer. While we were drinking, he walked by us and tapped me on the back and said something about us being the kind of Sox fans he like to see, then left with his friends.

Williams I ran into at a Barnes and Noble in Tampa last ST also. I was looking for a book about history and he was in that section. Again I had the Sox jersey and hat on, and the look he gave me was like, "oh no, not this ****". Instead of being a dick though, I just walked by him, got my book, and turned to walk away. I turned to him and said, I might be a Sox fan, and born to hate the Yankees, but your the kind of guy I wish I had seen play on the Sox. He said thanks in a really low voice and shook my hand, asked me if I wanted an autograph, to which I replied, "No, I only bother you for those when you are at the stadium, and I feel bad enough for taking your time here."(which is truly the way I act around celebs, they are just people to me). He again said thanks and I walked away. 30 seconds later some kid yells out "HOLY CRAP ITS BERNIE WILLIAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!" and proceeded to bother the crap out of him until Bernie just walked away.

A-Rod on the other hand......walked into a restaurant(again with Sox hat and jersey on) and was told by the hostess that A-Rod is sitting in a certain section and not to bother him. Thats cool i thought, until I had to go to the bathroom and his section was on the way. As i went up to go through that section I was confronted by one of his friends/security, telling me to get the F out of here and not to bother A-rod, he doesnt like to deal with "people like me". I just told him I was going to use the damn bathroom and not going to bother someone who obviously wants privacy. At this Arod and his entire group got up and walked out(left about 200 on the table, but their meal was defintley unfinished), and said something really rude to the hostess as they went by her.

This is why I respect the "Yankees", and dont respect the guys who were bought to play on the team(giambi, Sheff, ARod). Jeter acted like I was someone he knew, Williams was shocked to find out I wasnt a tool bag Sox fan, but ARod immediately thought I was going to ruin his entire night.

They haven't responded because there to busy calling their teammate cry babies (Okay, that was only one member of the team doing that and this thread isn't about him).

There's an interesting article from Murray Chass that basically says what camulos was talking about, how the media is fanning the flames on this fire.

                      And on A-Rod's response...

"And, again, I think Brandon's a great pitcher. I played with him in high school."

I'm pretty sure there is no Brandon on the team, there is a Bronson though.
