Sounds like Quintana could be one of Jays targets. A good piece which hopefully is cheap to add to the middle of their rotation.

Ohtani would've been big to get. If the Jays could extend him, I'd have no problem giving up their top prospects like Moreno, Groshans and others for him. Ohtani and Vlad together on offense, and Ohtani with Manoah and Gausman in the rotation I think would push them ahead of the Yankees in terms of AL faves.

Yeah I think the extra playoff teams have caused it to be more of a sellers market, hopefully asking prices start to drop as it gets closer to the deadline and we start seeing moves

Braves bring back Ehire Adrianza in a trade with Washington, and DFA Cano.

Edit: Trey Harris going to Washington.

Yankees acquired reliever Scott Effross from the Cubs. Don’t know what they gave up but he has five years of team control left so this is a weird one for the Cubs

RHP Hayden Wesneski, #7 prospect in their system

It is weird, but relievers are a dime a dozen I guess. Maybe this Wesneski guy has starter potential?

Yeah not a ton of rental relievers out there so I think teams are willing to give up more for controllable guys. (Cubs probably have the two best rental relievers on the market in Robertson and Givens).

Needless to say, anyone that deals for Soto should have a contract extension deal in place to announce as soon as the trade is completed.

I like the deal for the Yankees, can't have too many good arms on the pen.

Come on Cubbies, either keep Robertson or deal him to the Padres where he would probably become their closer (yes, more fantasy talk :P).

Rest of the package is Taylor Rogers (pads current closer) and prospects

****, Padres got their closer. Glad I picked up Givens from the waiver wire as a backup.

Padres going for it, good for them.

I don’t follow much outside of the NL East so what am I missing here, why did a first place team just trade their closer?
