I know the shift pays off more often than not, but nothing frustrates me more than giving up a base hit or missing turning a double play because you were shifted

Jays going WWE mode.
Jordan Romanos entrance for the 9th...dim the lights, everything goes red for the Canadian, his video and music plays as he comes out of the bullpen.
I could get use to this new stadium lighting.
Jays win 10-8 and Vladdy doesn't dump the Gatorade tank over Hernandez, he brings out the whole cooler!
The atmosphere tonight, feels like game 1...of the playoffs.
The 3rd largest deficit any team has ever come back from to win on opening day in the MLB since 1901!Last edited by Majingir; 04-08-2022, 10:16 PM.Comment

Re: 4/7 - 4/17 Game Discussion Thread
Yesterday there was 124 strikeouts.
Tony Gwynn struck out 124 times from 1994-2001.
(per @OleTimeHardball)
Based on my own research, during Ted Williams' first three years AFTER World War II (MVP, 2nd place, 3rd place), he only struck out 132 times. And if you include the 4th year, when he won MVP again, the total is at 180.
So he fought a war for three years, came back and struck out 180 times in 4 years.
Joey Gallo struck out 213 times last year alone.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 04-08-2022, 10:43 PM.Boston Red Sox

Holy ****, I knew he was a tough strikeout but this made me look up his career stats and his yearly strikeout numbers look like a misprintComment

It’s only two games but this Mets team is so much more enjoyable to watch. 11 of their 12 runs have not been via home run, I love that they’re stringing hits togetherComment

According to AJ Cassavell, the 2022 Padres are the first team in recorded history to open a season with two starters not allowing a hit (which probably means that Tim Hill is the first reliever to lose two no-hitters to open the season).Boston Red Sox

Tim Hill is consistent.
C.J. looks outstanding out there, except for that face-plant overslide. He'll learn.Comment

It's not in Texas so we're okay.

Fun fact, Tony Gwynn had more career doubles than career strikeouts.
His rookie season was the only time he had more strikeouts than walks.
In 1994, 1995, and 1999, he grounded into more double plays than striking out.Comment
