No wonder that Apple TV broadcast was a pile of ****. I looked up the announcers and two of them were Hunter Pence and Katie Nolan. Sure glad I don't pay for that garbage.

It was like hearing reddit/twitter douches call a game. Had to turn it off and go back to other two games on at the time which sucks because I wanted to watch Shohei and Trout. Oh well.

For the life of me I can't imagine why Heidi Watney left Quick Pitch for that dog****. Maybe it wasn't her choice.

I actually thought the broadcast was refreshing and the graphics they used were unique and gave the game a new feel. I was skeptical at first but I might just like Apple Fridays.

Quite literally nothing could be worse than what Kirk Gibson and Jack Morris did for 3.5 hours yesterday.

I must be in the minority but I love the ghost runner in extra innings rule. Why would I want to watch 9 innings and then another X amount of innings of my team not creating anything?

Adding the ghost runner adds drama right away in the 10th and puts pressure on.

Not sure why people think it’s not legit? Both teams know the rule going into the game and both teams benefit from it.

Yea sounded like an amateur broadcast. Reminded me of ESPN. Which isn't a good thing.

I thought the apple broadcast was ok, similar to the games I’ve seen on YouTube. I think I became numb to the broadcast around the 3rd or 4th inning. It didn’t add anything to the game but they didn’t make me turn it off. That reach base probability graphic in the lower right corner is bush league looking and needs to go. I only got kicked off the stream once for a few minutes but I know a lot of other people had extended periods where they couldn’t connect. Luckily it was free because there is no chance in hell I’d pay for Apple TV to watch a handful of Mets games this year.

I didn't watch so I could be way off, but i think Hunter Pence could be kind of fun in the booth if hes paired with the right PBP. Katie Nolan, however, is insufferable and I can only imagine how annoying she is calling a game.

Yea she ****ing sucks. She's about as good as Selena gomez. Or whatever her name is. Pence is annoying but not as insufferable as her.

Kirk Gibson is a fan of the extra inning rule for the regular season. He cited the strategy and excitement it creates. I am floored to hear him say any of that.

That was definitely one of the more wild sporting events I've ever attended.

The dome just exploded on the tying home run and after the replay challenge that made in 9-8. Got to be honest when it was 7-0, I was starting to think about when we should leave since my wife had to work Saturday morning.

The new lights and the "wing-tip" editions to the scoreboard were used well. I though it would just be used for ads but it was actually used effectively to provide information such as pitch type, pitch break and player's previous bat information.

Same reason people don't like college football OT rules. It's completely changing what the game is to a wild degree.

Why not put a ghost runner on 2nd if the score is still 0-0 going in to the 7th? You've already watched 6 innings of apparently boring baseball, might as well add some action.

I get why people like it. I just get the feeling that what people really want is for baseball to be what it isn't. A sport with a finite sense of time and more urgency, like other sports. And apparently players want that too, so.

People pay to see a whole game. Baseball “overtime” in the regular season comes after 3ish hours of regulation baseball. Forgive the majority of people who have jobs, kids who have school, and dare want to see the ending of the game they have been watching. The new rule has accomplished that, and adds a hell of a lot more intrigue.

The average age of a MLB Consumer is 57 which is up from 52 in 2000. The sport understands it needs to adapt.

According to Twitter, Rafael Devers is the first visiting Red Sox player to hit a first inning home run against the Yankees on Opening Day since Babe Ruth in 1919.

He's also the first Red Sox player to hit a home run in his final regular season AB of one season and then homer in his very first AB of the next season.

Blue gives Mikolas a head-high called strike to record his first K, and he's out of the game in the 4th with the lead.
