    I get that, yes.

I dont believe Ohtani's impact is greater than what Judge has propelled the Yanks to.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Blue Jays completely hung over still beat Red Sox 10-0

What about this thought experiment: if Ohtani was on the Yankees and Judge on the Angels, how would things be different? Does Judge lift the Angels to the post season? I don’t think so. Does Ohtani have the Yankees where they are? I am pretty sure they win the AL East with Ohtani.

I generally don’t want to reward or punish a player for team performance and instead focus on their individual value. I say generally because I do think that a key performance in games that mean something does carry some weight over value in meaningless games.

I've just been seeing so many people online (mostly non media/voters) doing the whole "it's about most valuable, and look at the W/L, it's obvious" argument, like we're talking about a different sport or something. MVP and Cy Young are typically just about the numbers. If Judge were doing this on a team 20 games below .500 he'd still be an MVP favorite. But he's on a team near top in ERA, BAA, etc. I'm not sure how we can even quantify what Ohtani is doing, but it seems like the very definition of value.

Jays look to take care of Red Sox again (this might be their best season vs a single ALE opponent maybe ever?) which, a win here and Rays loss today guarantees Jays at least the 2nd WC spot (meaning Rays also eliminated from home field advantage).

Still need Mariners to lose some to get top WC spot overall. 5 games left for the Mariners in final 4 days, hopefully we see some losses.

I guess catching a ball is no longer enough to get an out?

JBJ catches the ball in the OF, ump calls it out, Red Sox say it was trapped, ump changes his mind and says it wasn't caught, Jays challenge, every replay review shows the ball go in the glove and never touching the field, but the replay review says the calls stands?

So if that isn't a caught ball, explain how it wasn't caught if the ball literally went into the glove.

Apparently it's because the ball went in the glove, but they couldn't see the ball AFTER it went in the glove to tell if it hit the field? Like what kind of ruling is that? Is there an imaginary hole in the glove where the ball could've possible gone through and then suddenly come back through the glove after hitting the field, all in a split second?

It's a combination of having the "call on the field" having way too much power when trying to overturn it, and also needing more evidence than it takes to convict someone for murder to actually make a decision other then the ruling stands.

I really hope Boone doesn't even entertain the idea of adding Chapman to the playoff roster. Doesn't deserve it. Don't even want the temptation to use him.

I wonder what the actual rule is. Is it like the NFL where the ground aiding the catch in any way is a no catch call?

Because that is what it looked like, the ground aided the catch, but the ball caught all glove the entire time, never touched the field.

Can you imagine that call in a playoff game. Ridiculous.

Thankfully it had no impact on the game.

What a weird feeling to end the season.

Jays are in the playoffs, play final regular season game at home, but don't know if it's the final game at home this season in general due to the WC format.

Rays could be done from the top WC spot, and magic number on Mariners is down to 2 (imo, Mariners need to go 5-0 to get the top WC spot)

As with bases loaded and 0 outs.

                              0 runs scored.

Rays just lost. So now the playoffs will for sure either be:
Toronto vs Seattle and TB @ Cleveland
                              OR
TB @ Toronto and Seattle @ Cleveland

As redeemed themselves. A chance tomorrow for Jays to clinch 1st WC.

Definitely didn’t expect the Mets to **** the bed this bad vs the Braves with their top three pitchers staring, all they needed was one win to be in pretty good shape to win the division.
