Mariners now half a game ahead of the Rays for the 2nd WC. Rays own tiebreaker.

I'm not even sure which team I'd rather face in the WC round. The way the Jays have played, it doesn't matter their opponent if the Jays don't play well.

I definitely feel the same way. Regardless if it’s the Rays, Mariners or Guardians I think the Jays are going to have their hands full.

It’s a pick your poison situation but hopefully they get the first wild card spot so they can get home field.

It feels like the Mariners have been slumping lately, but when you look at September records, they're exactly .500, same as the Rays.

        Cleveland has been hotter though.

I guess I'd lean towards Mariners since Rays entire rotation would be guys with sub 3 ERAs.

Cardinals will end the season with 6 games against the Pirates.

          3 this weekend in St.Louis
          3 next week in Pittsburgh
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Yesterday’s off day will probably be my last stress free night for a while unless the Mets can hang on to the division lead. Then I get a few days off before the division round when the panic really sets in

              Good old 6 game series.

At this point, that entire stretch is basically meaningless.
Has no impact on NL playoff picture, unless Padres finish better than Cards AND make it to NLCS vs them and/or Cards play Cleveland, Jays, Rays, Mariners in WS (with one of them finishing the year better than the Cards).

John Schneider is the first manager to take over mid season and make the playoffs. Last was Jim Tracy in 09 with Rockies.

He's the first AL manager to take over mid season and make the playoffs since...Cito Gaston of the Jays in 89.

Kikuchi with the now rare 3 inning save.

Nice way for the Mariners to end their playoff drought.

Nice for the Mariners to finally get in with the playoff expansion.

Nevertheless, hoping Seattle plays and beats Cleveland and Toronto plays and beats Tampa Bay---as I understand the format.

                          Playoff picture slowly taking shape

                          We know for the AL
                          1. Astros
                          2. Yankees
                          3. Cleveland

And Jays,Mariners, Rays are the 3 WC teams.

Didn't realize Mariners have a doubleheader on Tuesday. Given the WC starts Friday, for their sake, they better know their WC seeding before so they can think about rest.

                          NL likely wind's up
                          1. Dodgers
                          2. Braves or Mets
                          3. Cards
                          4. Braves or Mets

With Padres,Phillies, Brewers making up the final 2 spots.

                          Seattle vs Toronto ALCS!

Now the pressure is on Philly. They technically have the longest active MLB drought, but it might just last a few days if they clinch soon, and Tigers/Angels at just 8 seasons will be new longest drought.

Angels won't ever do anything in the Trout era, and Tigers are just 1 year away from Cabrera finally being off the books and freeing up 30m in space.

I don’t pay nearly the attention to baseball (or sports) as I used to, so outside of the Braves I just don’t see/follow other players. As I started following the HR chase for Judge, I am 100% on the Judge for MVP train. That said…yesterday I took a look at what Ohtani has done this year and unreal. A legit MVP case can be made for him which is amazing given the year Judge is having.

Without Judge, Yanks are a WC team...dude carried their offense throughout.

With or without Ohtani, Angels still suck.

MVPs having to be on good teams isn't really a thing in baseball tho. It's never been a thing.
