If you look at the first two picks in the draft this past year, it's pretty obvious that super agents and the whole issue of "signability" are ruining some small market team's chances of restocking to the best of their ability. Verlander has some potential and a great arm, but he was no Niemann, Humber, or Boras's Weaver. But if the Angels can't sign Weaver, the Padres and Tigers sure couldn't.

I'm still trying to figure out what angle still remains where Jared Weaver could become a Tiger and take #36, so that I would be able to wear my Jeff Weaver jersey again

Didn't J.D. Drew pull this crap a few years back. I agree, guys who haven't even proven themselves in the big leagues need to sign an adequate contract and then let their talent and skills dictate their next contract where they can make the big bucks. Pretty disgusting is you ask me.
