Re: Best CF ever ?
For those who say Mays never produced in the playoffs, the same is said of Ted Williams. Yet, for the most part, he is still apart of every conversation when you speak of "the greatest hitter that ever lived," as he admired to be called. Baseball is not basketball, or even football, where you can have a hand in all the major plays. You only get 4 at bats a game and the ball is only hit your way a handful of times. Jordan can take every shot in the clutch, and Montana could make every throw in the 4th quarter. Mays and Teddy Ballgame could not influence the outcome of the game as much because baseball is inherently different...the ultimate team game IMO.Comment

Re: Best CF ever ?
I'm surprised not to have seen his name yet, but the greatest centerfielder of all time also happens to be the greatest negro league player of all time. Oscar Charleston. He was just as good a hitter as Ruth was (looked remarkably similar too, thin legs barrel-chested) but could bunt and steal bases like Cobb, and play centerfield like Tris Speaker. Many consider him the best player ever, but I give the nod to Ruth because Ruth also could pitch.
Mays and Cobb are a close tie for second as far as centerfielders, but you also have to include DiMaggio, Mantle and Tris Speaker in the conversation. All of these men are in the top 15 players ever. Griffey Jr. would be if he could have stayed healthy.Comment

Ruth or Gibson, Paige or Johnson, Cobb or Bell. We'll never know, but its interesting to think about, as long as you give credence to the idea that the door swings both ways, and both leagues were watered down by segregation.I creating Ryan Langarhans and put him in the braves roster, but not only my entire braves roster changed but other teams roster changed too. Why is that. Now if the braves or other teams trade or sign players, there will be no point for chsnging it. If u don't have online like me, u be sad too.Comment
