I just want us to be competitive......baseball is such a grind. And what the Yankees and Braves did in the mid 90's into the 00's was unlike anything that will ever....and I mean ever be repeated.

Way too many guys don't care to stick around anymore. Sports are not what they used to be in terms of dynasty's.

    It's rare air.
But it can't just be Judge and Stanton. Soto was that guy that we missed for years. Filling that void is near impossible. Barring some major signings and JDom and other young guys stepping way up. We are right back to where we were.

A second round team at best. I'm not optimistic at all.

I don't think it's a one off, he went nuts in free agency a few years ago but it seems like he's gotten smarter with his money. If you're going to give out a huge contract give it to someone Soto's age

I've been on record as saying I can't understand paying Soto this kind of money when he's not a true 5-tool player...but, your point is well made. Soto is the kind of guy who WANTS to be at the plate in key spots. Look at his at bat that won the ALCS; he WANTED to be in that spot and was intimidating as all get out...not saying it makes him worth >$700M, but the Yankees will miss that attitude in the lineup.

                          Wonder what they're giving up.

Jays adding the best defensive 2B out there when the team already was the best defensive team last season, not a bad add.

                          I think Ken's tired.

Cleveland is acquiring a guy that's already on their roster? Genius move by the Jays adding his name as someone their team is getting without them knowing he's already on their team...

                          Edit-

He corrected it to say Jays getting Sandlin and Gimenez for Horwitz and others.

Horwitz had a good season last year, but a 27 year old rookie, that could very well have been his peak, or maybe the beginning.

Now MLB Network reporting that is the deal. Horwitz for Sandlin and Gimenez. How did Cleveland make that deal? A decent arm out of the pen and a 3x gold glove 2B for a 28 year old player who played 1 season?

It doesn't pay 30m a year, but you too can be an MLB bullpen catcher!

I'm surprised that's even a job opening. Figured a job like that would just be hiring someone from their farm system.

Yeah I can remember looking at jobs the Mets had posted a little while ago and one of them was for a bench coach for their AAA team. I didn't realize that was the kind of job you applied to online

Whats more ridiculous are the qualifications.

For all the jokes about how nonsensical job qualifications are (I remember reading a story one time about a guy who was deemed unqualified for a position (he applied to as a joke) because he didn't have enough experience in a certain field...a field HE CREATED)...this is just funny to me.

                                Preferred Qualifications:

                                Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Moderate level of technical proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office products. Coding skills in R or SQL a plus

Is the application for an MLB Bullpen catcher or statcast?
