    Weird transaction note.

Jays sent Ali Sanchez to the minors, but he declined and elected free agency.

He then immediately signed.....a minor league contract with the Jays.

Don't see what the difference is between getting sent down and signing a minor league deal.

Not weird at all. It happens all the time. Signing a new deal allows the player to renegotiate aspects of the deal.

Whoa! I speculated this back when, but was glad we never took on a massive contract at the time.

I wonder how this will work overall. I'm only hoping he's willing to play some defense for us.

If the Cubs knew about Devers being available and didn't ai last give it a thought, I don't know what to think.

3B is a big hole for them, and it looks like they could've got Devers without giving up their best hitting prospects.

With Devers in that lineup they can be less aggressive/desperate for pitching help.

I'm liking the rumor the M's are in on Jhoan Duran. Their bullpen has been a hot mess outside of Munoz, and Brash who is working his way back from Tommy John.

As long as Emerson or Montez aren't part of the deal, I'm absolutely all in on that.

.. Harry Ford is getting moved for sure. There is no logical reason whatsoever to keep Mitch Garver on this roster with Ford on the heater he's been on in AAA.

My White Sox need to trade Luis Robert. It's a shame they didn't 2 years ago at the Trade Deadline though...

Jays sign 12th round draft pick Blaine Bullard to a nearly 1.7m deal.

Most money handed out to a player taken outside the first 4 rounds, and most money any team has ever given to a 12th round pick.

Jays must really feel like he's a guy who'll reenter the draft in a few years and be a 1st round pick because that's obviously a lot of money to spend for a guy not taken in the first few rounds.

Clase placed on leave as part of MLBs investigation into him betting.

One of best relievers in baseball today, but now it makes people wonder about what happened last year and if his playoff performance is related to this.

The Clase situation is weirder than I thought. He's a client of a company that allows people to invest in a pro athlete (ie, the athlete gets money up front) for a small percentage of his future earnings. Outside of pro poker (ie, I'll stake you $$$ to enter a WSOP tourney in exchange for 10% of whatever you earn), I've never heard of such a thing. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

With Cleveland Guardians pitcher Emmanuel Clase being placed on leave amid an MLB betting investigation, fans that invested in him could end up losing big.

I've seen trades happen during a series (I remember when Jays got Upton during the Padres first ever series in Toronto and he literally just changed dugouts during the series), but a trade happening during a doubleheader has to be incredibly rare.

Jays acquire Seranthony Domingues from the Os.

The trade was announced after the Jays and Os completed game 1 of the doubleheader today and he's available to pitch for the Jays in game 2 of the doubleheader against his now former team.

Danny Jansen played for two teams in the same game due to a suspended game being resumed at a later date when he was on the Jays before it got suspended and Red Sox when it resumed.

But Domingues being part of both bullpen on the same day has to be up there in rare occurrences.

MLB and all leagues need to come down hard. Porter got banned already but that's not enough imo. The leagues need to ban a guy for life and void his entire contract and even make it in to a lawsuit.

Clase apparently has thrown lots of really bad pitches to start an AB, which now has people speculating on how deep the betting ring went. You can bet on individual pitches/results, so what better way to guarantee a pitch will 100% be the result you want than making it a horribly thrown ball that nobody will ever attempt to swing at.

you shouldn't be able to bet on individual pitches if it's that easy to cheat

I was legit confused by the tweet about him throwing 22 pitches outside the zone on 0-0 counts and 0 outs. I'm like, ok? Why is this a thing? If betting on him throwing unhittable pitches outside the zone is a thing, then it shouldn't be a thing. Gambling is weird to me, all he has to do is throw an unhittable pitch and that's it? What if Randall Simon shows up and hits it anyway, is he under review? Didn't Vlad SR get a hit after a pitch that bounced? What if the fix is in and one of these wild swingers goes afrer it anyway? How do you prove anything? Detroit may or may not have hit Suarez on purpose to lower his trade value, who knows!

The whole gambling on sports is an issue on its own. These Professional sports are making Billions by allowing betting to take place on their sports, only a complete idiot would not think that there are going to be some bad apples. Especially with the Prop bets!!! Just betting on winning or losing a game is fine, but when you are allowing betting on the fact that a player may or may not throw 4 pitches over 100mph allows a lot of control to one person for the outcome. Betting has gotten out of hand and really needs to be reigned in, especially in sports.

Side note, I just watched a you tube video of a bunch of people betting on which pool ball would be the first ball knocked into a hole by a robot vacuum cleaner!!! I swear to god!!! 15 people around a pool table watching a robot vacuum push around pool balls until one finally goes in a whole!! WTF!!!
