Re: 2024-2025 Hot Stove Thread
Seeing rumors/reports that Pete Alonso is going to re-sign with the Mets and then fire Scott Boras.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: 2024-2025 Hot Stove Thread
My interpretation if those rumors are true is that Boras had a deal in place with someone like the Jays, but Alonso wants to stay with the Mets (possibly feeling like Boras is trying to steer him to a higher offer over what Alonso wants?)Comment

Re: 2024-2025 Hot Stove Thread
Was Boras Freddie Freeman's agent when he left Atlanta for LA, but didn't really want to leave Atlanta? If so, I'm getting the same vibes win regards to Alonso. At least with Freeman, it eventually worked out and he got (another) ring. I don't think Alonso is going to be as lucky if he doesn't stay right where he is.T-BONE.

Scherzer to the Jays!
Now let's hope Alonso or Bregman to Jays is next
Although this is making me think Alonso rumors are true if they only announced this one. Maybe Boras was lobbying for a package deal which rubbed Alonso the wrong way.Last edited by Majingir; 01-30-2025, 05:09 PM.Comment

Re: 2024-2025 Hot Stove Thread
I don't believe anything I hear when it comes to a Boras negotiation. The fact that something came out from Boras' strategic leaker Heyman saying Alonso desperately wants to go back to the Mets makes me think it's all a ploy to get the Jays to up their offerComment

Re: 2024-2025 Hot Stove Thread
Jim Bowden saying the Cubs and Jays have been most aggressive on Bregman/Alonso.
His agent was demanding so much, Jays made an offer, got rejected, Jays immediately (and in hindsight regrettably) shifted to Morales for the price they offered Edwin since they didn't want to play the waiting game on what felt like a losing battle, and then in the end Edwin signed for LESS than the Jays offered and he got a new agent after.
In baseball especially it feels like agents try playing those kinds of games which players don't always seem to be as fond of. In other sports you're likely getting paid a similar amount no matter what so you can be a bit selective on where you go, but in baseball you see agents holding up teams way more often when it seems like the player doesn't always want to go where the agents best offer says to go.Last edited by Majingir; 01-31-2025, 04:42 PM.Comment

Nothing new from what we've heard, but I wonder how much longer will this get dragged out for. Pitchers and catchers report in....under 2 weeks!Comment

Regarding the Luka trade someone offered a Bobby Witt Jr. for Trout comparison. Trying to think of a better comp, but can't right now. Any thoughts?OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

I don't know if Witt would be best comparable for Doncic. Maybe Soto?Last edited by Majingir; 02-02-2025, 10:16 AM.Comment
