For all intensive purposes Ohtani signed a 10 year $460M contract.

Not to mention the fact every team can do what they are doing if they truly wanted to. The Mets have money, Yankees, Phils, Red Sox

Dodgers are just building a product people want to be part of. And if Murakami goes there next year they will be on their way to just fielding team Japan from the WBC soon

5 years under 100m isn't bad at all.

Hopefully this leads to more moves too.

Add Bregman or Alonso plus a SP (they've spoken to Scherzer, but I'd still add someone along with him) and that's a decent offseason.

According to Rosenthal here is the deal with opt out

Santander deal with Blue Jays, per source: Five years, $92.5M with club option for sixth season. Can opt out after third year. Team can void opt out and make deal six years, $110M at that point.

It’s going to really suck to see Acuna Jr. in either Dodger or Met blue in a few years.

I figured this was a sure thing after the Straw disaster. They badly needed an outfielder. I'd be surprised if they signed another high profile free agent as their budget is already north of $261 million for this season.

It will be interesting to see if they can sign Vlad to an extension.

I say this with a little bias ofc as a Mets fan. It would be crazy for Vlad not to test the market. Cause I know the Mets are throwing 400 million at him. And who knows who else makes a run at him. Sox, Yankees, Phillies, Giants

He would have been a free agent this off-season if he didn't sign that horrible extension, I can only imagine how much money he would have gotten

So Alonso and Bregman are Boras' clients. You hate to see it.

There is no way the Dodgers don't realize the manner they are going about business might spur change in the next CBA, right? Maybe they want to force MLB's hand

Just checked, CBA expires after the 2026 season. Maybe they know changes are likely and said "**** it, they are going to limit us anyway so might as well take advantage until then"?
