    Steroids and HOF votes?

Okay...I'm sure that this is going to stir it up, but it's Friday, I'm at work, and I need something to entertain me...Thus I ask...

Did anyone see that the AP did a survey of HOF voters and only 55% said that they would vote for McGuire and 81% for Bonds? How do you guys feel about that?

My own opinion is that you can't discriminate like that. The baseball HOF is about great players, not saints. And no asteriks either...unless you're going to put one next to every record or stat prior to the integration of the game in 1947...

    Thoughts, ideas, opinions?

my view is this, innocent until proven guilty, if they find Mcgwire and bonds were guilty and using steroids, they should not be in the hall of fame, hell they dont want rose in there for gambling on the game aka cheating, then these guys should not be in either, because they cheated too, another thing is mlb steroids policy stinks, if they want to clean the game up and keep it pure, they should do what the olympic commitee did about steroid use, 1 year your suspendend, if your caught a second time youre done, it's over not allowed to play pro ball, i gurantee if they did this, you wouldnt have a steroid problem again......but it's all about money not the the integrity of the game, so i know they are not gonna be too drastic in their rulings..........just my opinon .................sjj2xs

        "Thoughts, ideas, opinions?"

I have an opinion that this belongs in the Pro Baseball forum, but that's just me.

And Bonds has made a lot of distinguish accomplishments before he got "big"....... he was a great base stealer back in the day....... and it's hard to ignore 7 NL MVPs, too.

I'm one of those guys who would put Bonds in, but not McGwire.

I dont think the voters are thinking in any way about steroids when voting. This is because they HAVE voted in players who were known cheaters at the time of induction like neikro and gaylord perry. With that said I think Bonds has had a much better career looking at his overall production. The number of MVP's speak for themselves IMO
            NCAA Football
            USC Trojans
            NFL Football
            Buffalo Bills
            San Francisco 49ers
            MLB Baseball
            Los Angeles Angeles of Anahiem
            Atlanta Braves
            NHL Hockey
            Los Angeles Kings

The difference is that Bonds still gets into the HOF without his 73 HR season. No way does Mac get in without his 70 HR season.

But since I believe that both of them cheated, In my mind, the HR record is still 61.

Bonds was a hall of famer before all of this, McGwire was almost out of the league with his near .200 batting average before he is reported doing steriods. Bonds yes, McGwire no.... But if you let McGwire in, Pete Rose MUST be brought back to baseball. What Pete did hurt himself, not the game. What Big Mac did was hurt the game, and himself. Even before all of this I thought Pete should be in, and what he did was not bad. He broke the rules, yes. If anybody says McGwire didnt thats bull, baseball didnt have the rule, but America did, STERIODS were illegal, Gambling is not.

Ummmm....gambling is illegal too.......outside of specific areas.

If you dont believe me, try opening a casino or sportsbook out of your garage.

GAMBLING IS NOT ILLEGAL, you can call your picks into vegas, internet 'not that he had it', and many other ways. If it was, how come he was not charged for gambling?
