    He throws a mid 90's fastball with a very good curve, slider and a changeup that he uses infrequently. His other pitches are good but like most power pitchers, probably not good enough to be effective on their own. Being able to throw a mid nineties fastball makes his offspeed stuff very effective.

    I don't expect great things from him right off the bat. I think it will probably take him 4 or so starts to get his velocity up to where it should be. Bottom line is, it's going to be early May when he comes back rather than the All-star break which is what we first predicted when signing him. I'm willing to suffer through a few early season starts if it gets him ready to pitch well from July on.
