Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Foulke getting better and better“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Originally posted by CWood2It wasn't so much the location, but it doesn't have any bite...it's really more like a cutter. Not a bad job to pull it nonetheless by Rios.
It's just too slow to be effective, and the hitter can see slider rotation so it nullifies its effectiveness since it isn't a good slider to begin with. In Foulke's defense, that may have been the best slider I've ever seen him throw, but to a guy with Rios' reach, you have to get that ball way outside the zone.
Foulke strikes out Adams to end the inning. Slider aside, he pitched pretty well that inning and spotted his fastball very well.Comment

If this game goes much longer I would put money on this being a high scoring series with both of these bullpens being used up. Toronto moreso than the Red Sox so far though.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Originally posted by MisfitManny's never really been a "clutch" hitter. I can only think of two "clutch" hits that he's had with the Red Sox. The homerun off of Zito in Game 5 of the ALDS, and the pinch-hit RBI single he had at the trade deadline last year.
True but clutch or not it's still surprising considering no matter what it's still Manny and you would think odds would say he'd hit at least one.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried.
