I don't understand why you don't atleast get Foulke up after the double for insurance.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on Sheffield -

Part of what I don't like too much about Francona: he doesn't get relief pitchers up until too late. It seems like this happens a lot.
He could have had Foulke or Timlin warming up during the last inning in case the Sox grabbed the lead, then subbed them in. Then if it was tied or the Sox were still down he could have decided to stick with Clement. I just think you should always leave an option in there.Comment

And a couple years before that. He seems to have a knack for it I guess.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Everytime I think that fork in Lowell's back gets deeper... I see him bang one off the monster.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. YYOOOOOOUUUUUUKKKKKKKK. Great clutch hitting there. It's gonna be tough to move him down in the order when Crisp comes back. He's one of our best hitters right now.Comment
