Well, at least they didn't go quietly. Manny is killing them by being an almost automatic out in the middle of the order. He just looks horrible at the plate so far. At this point, Wily Mo is having better at-bats.

Foulke looked good, and Tavarez wasn't bad even though he did give up one run. Hopefully they get it going against Seatle.

Yah Lilly was making him, among others look silly. I havn't seen the Red Sox strike out looking that many times in awhile.

At least vs Seattle, with Schill, Wake and Beckett going, they hopefully won't give a 5 run cushion right off the bat. I'm going Saturday and Sunday.

I may hate the Red Sox (not as much as the Yankees) but I really hope Manny gets it going. It's always sad to see a star player struggling so much. On the Jays feed Pat Tabler noticed that Manny's timing is WAY off. He's doing his leg kick after the pitch is thrown when he usually does so just as the pitcher is releasing the ball.

It's really messing him up big time.

Manny will break out of it. He always has these stretches where he's a little bit off, but then something will click and he'll go on a tear for 3 months. He started slow last year as well. Didn't hit his 1st HR until April 16th, and was hitting .222 with 4 RBI at the time. He broke out of it though and ended the month at .274 with 7 HR's and 25 RBI.

Well were starting a 4 game series with the Marlins tonight at 7:05 with
Schilling making his first start in Fenway this year. And on a side note on ESPN Sportsnation were they have an anaylist answer your questions I asked what are the chances Roger Clemens ends up in Boston or New York and this is what he said.

              JERRY CRASNICK

Joe,I've thought all along that Houston was the most likely destination for Clemens, but I recently talked to a former teammate who knows Roger pretty well, and he said the thought of finishing his career in Boston and coming full circle is very intriguing to the Rocket. Take that for what it's worth, but it's an interesting thought.

It's kind of weird to be seeing the Mariners so early in the season. Usually we face them when we're a game and half out of the Division lead and a half game out of the wild card, and the team has just made a cross-country jaunt to go play them...

Great inning by Schill to strike out the side.

Little disappointed that Fenway wasn't on their feet for that last K. They seemed dead at the home opener too.

Dustan Mohr is a bad man. Looking forward to facing some righties so he and Stern can continue helping this team.

I missed it. Had to go to the package store to look for some Sam Summer. Did he hit a triple?

I have no doubt Manny will break out of this, but he really looks clueless at the plate right now. He looks like he's just guessing, and guessing wront a lot when he's usually the one that dictates his at bats.

I'm confident he'll breakout of his slump, but the thought just crossed my mind as I read your comment about his AB's, which you are dead on, I wonder if he's just tanking it because of not being traded?

Probably not, just throwing something out there.

I think Manny has way too much pride in what he does to do something like that. Also, I think if he was tanking, his teammates and coaches would notice it pretty quickly. Not something guys like Schilling, Beckett, Nixon, etc would put up with. That and we've seen him go through stretches like this before. Pretty much the first half of April and entire month of May last year.
