Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
That ball probably would have gone over the wall without Pena's influence, but it should have been caught easily. He just drifted back like he had no idea where the wall was and then jumped to catch it when he didn't need to. Ugly play.
Foulke's velocity was down today, I didn't see anything over 85. The few changeups he threw looked good and were 76 so there was still a good differential in speed between the two. I think Foulke (and Schilling, for that matter) will likely struggle a bit wirh inconsistent velocity from game to game. He threw one slider that was ugly. I've never seen Foulke throw a quality slider, he should just dump the pitch.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Keith Foulke... One game he can hit 88-89 then this game he was throwing 84-86 mhp. This guy cannot be our closer... Even if he has a nasty changeup, he has to have his fastball max day in day out. Blame all you want on Willy, no way Foulke should be throwing that slow.Last edited by Briman123; 04-11-2006, 03:32 PM.18-1 hell of a season regardlessComment

Nice win
After Foulke's performance today I'm done speculating whether he's cooked or can still be effective. It's looking way to difficult to call at this point.
Hopefully Lowell turned a corner today and will be able to pepper the monster all season long.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
I predict that Trot Nixon's groin injury yesterday spells the end of his long term career with the Red Sox. Barring a return to complete health and something near a .900 OPS for the rest of 2006, I don't see any way they bring him back for 2007.Comment

The Red Sox announced today that they've agreed to a three-year extension with center fielder Coco Crisp. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, also includes a club option for the 2010 season.Comment
