Originally posted by camulosIt's not like Schill had a high pitch count. Granted, he could have taken him out a batter or two sooner but the damage was already done. I blame Tito more for taking out Wily Mo for defense when we're only up 2. I guess that team meeting didn't do too much good.
I dunno.
It seems like we've seen this movie 30 too many times this year. A starter gets deep in to a game, and then loses it for whatever reason.
Regardless of who is on the mound, Tito needs to start managing these games like game 7. Have the bullpen ready in the later innings so they can come in at the drop of a hat. IMO.
Anyway...
Would anyone like to join me in chugging some...

Nah, the Sox just took this one in the groin.
Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. At least it certainly seemed that way. Schilling's pitch count was low, but he wasn't fooling many guys or missing a ton of bats as evidenced by the absurd amount of extra base hits off of him tonight. I thought they should have been happy to get 7 innings of just two runs allowed. With the way the bullpen has performed lately, its no guarantee the outcome would have been any different had Tito pulled Schilling, but it should have been done.
So now I ask you, whats more embarassing for the Sox: getting swept by the Royals or the fact that Burgos was 2 for 2 in save opportunities in the series (including a 1-2-3 9th tonight)?
Oh, and when do the Patriots kick off again?!Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Anybody watching the game on ESPN? They were comparing the stats of the Red Sox and Yankees since the break and the Red Sox have allowed a surprising 20 earned runs to score since then. I guess that just goes to show you that everything truely is falling apart.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Downright astonishing that, while in the middle of a two races, while two of our biggest competitors play one another, that if we had a game (I won't use games, I don't want to be greedy) vs. the Royals, we could have picked up a game.
How often do you get a chance like this?
You're playing the cupcake team of the ML universe, while two teams you are chasing are beating eachother up, and you get swept?
I am stunned.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

I know what you mean. I remember having the conversation with my dad that this was a win-win series for the Red Sox since the White Sox and Yankees were facing each other. They were bound to gain ground on someone! Hah, I can't believe they did the opposite. Thank Foulke/Manny/Ortiz/Schilling/Cabrera/etc for 2004 otherwise this would be 10 times worse.Comment

Right now I'd be willing to dress up in a Shirley Temple outfit and give some mad scientist a handjob to go back to 04.

I said two good pitchers. Unless of course you consider Alay Soler a good pitcher“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried.
