well if they both stink as you say, why would anybody trade for them? hopefully julio finds himself!! we have had a great start, no need to hit the panic button right now. i'm sure the mets will trade for another starter by the deadline.

im just strongly feel that neither of those 2 guys will ever be any better than they are right now, and with how streaky the mets have been the past decade or so, it just feels like we get pumped up by pedro, then glaving does alright, even bannister is off and on but hes a rookie so when hes on its a double boost, then trachsel if so so but zambrano is like a seriously bad day when u know hes pitching, then when we are having a good game and momentum is high, julio will come in with a 5-6 run lead and load the bases with no outs and we sweat out the last 1/2 innin WITH A 5-6 RUN LEAD. it just feels like 1 step up, 2 steps back. now just because zambrano pitched today, and we lost we are going into tomorrow on the decline.
i remember back in the day like 90 or so mets were hanging in there in august and gooden was on the mound, he threw an easy 3rd out over the 3rd basemans head and the game winning run scored, the mets lost that game and most of the rest of the season, that 1 play ruined it and just brought the team down. this is zambrano and julio in july/ august. if they are here the hearts of all the good players will break away if they stay here. Zambrano especially cause of the way he was brought to the mets. i swear id rather have bensen instead of zambrano. we really need to get rid of this guy, hes just a cancer on the field. even his attitude while hes pitching sucks and makes me want to change the channel.Comment

How bout the trade offer from the Marlins today? Pretty comical.
I hope the Marlins GM was hammered when he made that offer."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The 2006 New York Mets...
Newsday said the Marlins called during ST inquiring about a Willis for Wright trade.
From a Mets perspective, I wouldn't make that trade. 15 years from now I believe we will be saying David Wright is the best 3B to ever play the game. That's how highly I think of him, I'm sure the Mets are the same way.Comment

And while he didn't have Wright's power, George Brett is another. A guy who maintained a .305 lifetime average over 20 seasons. Who in that span walked more than he k'd, hit 665 doubles and 317 HR's. Not the pure run producer Wright looks to be, but one of the all-time great hitters at any position.
Then you gotta factor in guys like Chipper Jones who've put up big numbers for a long time, not to mention a swtich hitter, or Eric Chavez.
Wright's gonna be great, no doubt in my mind, but I am not ready to label him an all-timer just yet.Last edited by bkrich83; 04-24-2006, 02:16 PM.Comment

Re: The 2006 New York Mets...
I'm as big a Wright fan as one can be without being a Mets fan or a member of the Wright family. With that said, no one should be saying he's going to be the best to ever play the position. This is only his second full season and just because he's barely legal to purchase alcohol doesn't mean he is going to get better and better every year like your videogames would have you believe. Plenty of guys have had their career years at 22, 24, 25, etc so let's wait until Wright has 8-10 years of Major League service time under his belt before we start talking about the best ever.Comment
