I'll keep my comments back on this trade... Bannister is a starter... and we let him go for a MR man... when we need solid starting...

Bannister was not going to recover his shot to pitch for this team. The guy was sitting behind Humber, Pelfrey, Perez, Mane, and even Dave Williams. Also, I think we just got some kid named Vargas from Florida. I liked Bannister, but this is a good deal. The mets have a surplus of young starters, but need Major League Starters. This guy can step in and replace Bert/Bradford. C'mon guys, when Omar has the Midas touch. Alot of people did not like the Seo for Sanchez move...I'd say that worked out for us and this move reminds me alot of that one. A young starter that has had some success, but will not make the team. So, you trade him for a young reliever with, apparantly, nasty stuff and an upper 90s fastball.

i wonder why they didnt try to resign Bradford though

Well the Mets had better make a move for a front-line starter.
Schmidt goes to the Dodgers.
Garcia goes to the Phils
and the Braves move Ramirez for Rafael Soriano.
Three teams in the NL just got a lot better and while signing Glavine was good...it will be like standing still if we don't make another big move.

Personally as an outsider looking in, I think the Royals got a steal and yall got screwed.... Bannister I think could make a really good 3rd to 4th starter while Burgos to me at least will be nothing more than a human gas can waiting to explode.

I agree with your thoughts on Bannister. He's a great young arm that can really come into his own given the right staff, guidance, and work.

Really? Bannister is a nice 26 year old pitcher that should have the chance of making the Royals staff. Burgos closed at one time who is a 23 year old pitcher hitting close to 100 mph and will be in the Mets bullpen. I wouldn't say screwed.

Mets probable pitching staff as it looks so far: Bullpen looking stronger than what they finished the season with in 06.
