quickly? he had all kinds of chances to produce the past 2 seasons and he has not done much. i think he is still capable of being a solid major leaguer but it was time to give lastings a chance.

i guess Bannister's injury was more serious than i thought - they placed him on the 60-day DL today (also as a way to make room for Milledge)

Re: Bannister, Milledge, The Disabled List & Kaz Matsui

Bannister's DL/extended DL has nothing to do with Milledge being called up. Why? Because Nady was placed on the DL immediately after his surgery this morning and Milledge is replacing him on the roster.

PS...for those of us who were fortunate to see Milledge hit during Spring Training, the one thing that is consistent with him is that the ball JUMPS off of his bat. He hits the ball HARD....something Matsui cannot do for the life of him.....

ahh - got confused - Cohen was saying that they had to make room for him on the roster (40 man) by moving him to the sixty day DL.. dont know why that would be if Nady was DL'd..

ps- Valentin?? who awoke his bat ? .. tip of the cap to Batista tonight as he managed to work out of some leadoff doubles...

Valentin could always hit. He was just off to a slow start.
I wonder what happens when Nady gets back. Does Milledge go back down if he's hitting/not hitting? With Chavez and Woodward(and Valentin I guess) there is no reason to carry a fifth outfielder. I'm shocked that they did not bring up Diaz instead of burning an option on Milledge. Nice to see him though.
As far as Soler....I can live with him being a little edgy and getting hit around a little in his first few starts as long as Hernandez pitches well....otherwise I think you'll see Maine if he's ever ready. I thought he only bruised his middle finger? What happened there?...

Somebody teach the rookie to use 2 hands.

Big league players always get away from the fundamentals you learn in little league, like using 2 hands, bunting, etc. They get paid so much you would think they could at least do those little things especially rookies who could just as fast be sent right back down.

Nice play Valentin to save a run.

Jorge Julio coming in to pitch against his former team. Btw, Webb and Pedro was as good if not better then advertised. This is what 4 straight good starts from Pedro where he wont get a win?

Interesting here, if the Mets don't score and the game goes on then they could be in trouble with no more bench players. I think they will pull this out right now though, runner on 3rd 1 out.

EDIT: Chavez comes through. Great game.

Man, I'm getting pumped now. That's three series wins in a row.

We win a game that Brandon Webb pitched in. That's awesome.
