Re: Home of the Philadelphia Phillies
Brett also wasn't using his curve at all in the early innings. He's weird with that pitch - sometimes it's all he wants to throw and other times it's like he forgets he has it. Once he started mixing up his pitches and locating better he did settle down, but he really can't afford to fall behind hitters if his fastball is going to be that average this season.
I miss the fat Myers. Also, I propose that next year we don't even play opening day. Just award us a loss, have a big celebration for last season's championship, but don't even play the actual game. We always lose on opening day, so why even risk injury. Just give us a loss and let us start with game #2.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: Home of the Philadelphia Phillies
I saw it top out around 88. His problem was location - he fell behind several hitters and they were able to wait for his middling belt-high fastball like they were hitting off a tee. And why our pitchers continue to feed Francoeur first-pitch fastballs for strikes is beyond me. Do we have a scouting department?

Steve Phillips commented on Myers' curve, saying how it is mostly a 'feel' pitch. Guess he wasn't feeling it early on...I remember seeing some early inning video where it showed him throwing it, but not getting it over for strikes. Guess he could only get that middling high 80's fastball over for strikes and the Braves had a field day w/ it.
We always suck in April. If we can be at .500 after April I'm happy. I think last yr we were 15-13...duplicating that or perhaps better, and facing the Mets to begin May would nice.

Re: Home of the Philadelphia Phillies
Typical Philly baseball score 1 run over two games, and then get 12?!?!?!?!?
I love not having a crappy BP anymore. Lidge got his 52nd consecutive SV in a row.

Re: Home of the Philadelphia Phillies
He made a nice play at the wall in Washington, and has made a few other plays already this year that our previous left fielder would've botched, butchered, etc. etc.
He's hit 5 dingers already, and a walk-off at that.
Please go away.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

I know he's a great hitter, doesn't mean I can't talk about his shortcomings in the field though. He's done this **** for years with the Mariners, I just find it funny how bad he looks on some plays.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
