Skeptical on him though, and how do you get him in the lineup?

IMO Werth is the better ALL-AROUND player, and will be the starting RF'er.

Ibanez is in left, and Victorino CF. I guess he could platoon w/ Ibanez vs LH pitching?

I'm not. Clearly this team is a "team" and Shef is about Shef.

I saw it top out around 88. His problem was location - he fell behind several hitters and they were able to wait for his middling belt-high fastball like they were hitting off a tee. And why our pitchers continue to feed Francoeur first-pitch fastballs for strikes is beyond me. Do we have a scouting department?

Brett also wasn't using his curve at all in the early innings. He's weird with that pitch - sometimes it's all he wants to throw and other times it's like he forgets he has it. Once he started mixing up his pitches and locating better he did settle down, but he really can't afford to fall behind hitters if his fastball is going to be that average this season.

I miss the fat Myers. Also, I propose that next year we don't even play opening day. Just award us a loss, have a big celebration for last season's championship, but don't even play the actual game. We always lose on opening day, so why even risk injury. Just give us a loss and let us start with game #2.

We always lose Opening Day vs the Braves (2007). Back in the Nats first yr (2005) we beat them on the strength of like 8 runs...that was when Kenny Lofton was a Phil and the last time we won on Opening Day, wow such a long time ago. Jon Lieber was the Opening Day starter (lmao).

Steve Phillips commented on Myers' curve, saying how it is mostly a 'feel' pitch. Guess he wasn't feeling it early on...I remember seeing some early inning video where it showed him throwing it, but not getting it over for strikes. Guess he could only get that middling high 80's fastball over for strikes and the Braves had a field day w/ it.

We always suck in April. If we can be at .500 after April I'm happy. I think last yr we were 15-13...duplicating that or perhaps better , and facing the Mets to begin May would nice.

Typical Philly baseball score 1 run over two games, and then get 12?!?!?!?!?

I love not having a crappy BP anymore. Lidge got his 52nd consecutive SV in a row.

              Off to Colorado for us...

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Yes I do realize Ibanez had a walk-off hit yesterday, but its still hilarious how bad he is defensively.

He's leading the NL in OPS after 11 games, but let's talk about his defense....

                              You're just a negative dude.

He made a nice play at the wall in Washington, and has made a few other plays already this year that our previous left fielder would've botched, butchered, etc. etc.

He's hit 5 dingers already, and a walk-off at that.

                              Please go away.

I know he's a great hitter, doesn't mean I can't talk about his shortcomings in the field though. He's done this **** for years with the Mariners, I just find it funny how bad he looks on some plays.
