The Mets offense is so potent all they need is average pitching. Then once Pedro gets back the staff will be looking even better. Not to mention that I think Oliver Perez is going to shock a lot of people and have a stellar year.

The bullpen will be solid once again just like last years team.

The NL EAST IN 2007 IS THE SOLE PROPERTY OF THE NY METS!

              Pelfrey pitched rather nicely today.
He deserves the nod for the fifth spot over Park IMO. Put Park in the long reliever role(something you just can't do with Pelfrey...he has to start every fifth ....either here or in AAA)

              Maine looked pretty good also.

Not if he still wants to keep his stock low for another year. He is a free agent after this season.

Anyways, I hope he does well. I know that 2004 season isn't an anomaly because he was quite good in 2002 and after his early struggles in 2003 he was rebounding nicely until he was traded to Pittsburgh, but he keeps getting screwed up because pitching coaches try to do too much with him.

                  Gem by Perez yesterday.
9K's and 0 BB in 5 innings against some pretty good Red Sox regulars.
He's been improving each start this spring. Let's hope it continues!

I'm not a Mets fan, I just thought I'd drop by seeing as that the Rangers thread gets as much action as D & D players.

Ollie can have games like that and just as long as the pitching coach doesn't try to do too much with him he'll be successful.

They just have to avoid having him focus and try hard on such philosophies like keeping his pitch count down and he'll be fine.

I'm hoping picking him up in each of my drafts in the last round will pay off.

After the way Pelfrey pitched this spring....he should NO DOUBT get the nod over Sele or Park for the fifth spot in the rotation IMO. Let's go with the youth!

Well it looks as if Pelfrey has the five spot and Sele will be the long reliever. Park will pitch setup with Heilmann until either Mota or Sanchez get back. Joe Smith also looks like he will make the big club.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we need a fast start!(Hello Captain Obvious!).....because I'm not comfortable seeing Sele or Park getting into too many games.

I'm psyched for the start of the season. Very interested in seeing how the pitching holds up without Pedro. Let's go Mets!!!
