    Re: The 2007 Indians Thread

The one thing I love about the Indians is every season I have hope for a good season. This year, I am probably more excited than usual. I look at the lineup and if everyone stays healthy, I think the lineup can produce a lot, from the 1 spot to the 9 spot. With Sowers being older, the rotation looks stronger than last year. The bullpen looks stronger than last year. I'm just very excited about this team

Keith Foulke has retired. Guess Borowski will get the chance to close right away.

Wow, why does this not surprise me being a Cleveland fan? We sign someone that makes us slightly excited....and he retires.

Just the life of a Cleveland sports fan.

My dad is from Cleveland and I used to get angry when he would make pessimistic comments about the Cavs, Browns, and Indians. When I was younger I would say come on where is your faith in your team. As I have grown older I have resigned to the fact that the less you expect from Cleveland teams, the better...

They always seem to find a way to break your heart. But I am still looking forward to this season!

So disappointing to me. It seems like this type of stuff only happens in Cleveland.

****!!! Why does this stuff always happen to us?!??!?! Well hopefully a young arm can step up and pick up the slack! Should never have traded Brown away in the Barfield deal...

With arrival of Spring Training games and MLB 2k7, I'm really excited about this season. It just seems like the team is so solid. I have a feeling the orders will look something like this:

                  LHP w/o DH
                  1. Sizemore CF
                  2. Michaels LF
                  3. Hafner 1B
                  4. Martinez C
                  5. Blake RF
                  6. Peralta SS
                  7. Marte 3B
                  8. Barfield 2B
                  9. --pitcher--

                  LHP w/ DH
                  1. Sizemore CF
                  2. Michaels LF
                  3. Hafner DH
                  4. Martinez C
                  5. Blake RF
                  6. Garko 1B
                  7. Peralta SS
                  8. Marte 3B
                  9. Barfield 2B

                  RHP w/o DH
                  1. Sizemore CF
                  2. Nixon RF
                  3. Hafner 1B
                  4. Martinez C
                  5. Delucci LF
                  6. Peralta SS
                  7. Marte 3B
                  8. Barfield 2B
                  9. --pitcher--

                  RHP w/ DH
                  1. Sizemore CF
                  2. Nixon RF
                  3. Hafner DH
                  4. Martinez C
                  5. Blake 1B
                  6. Delucci LF
                  7. Peralta SS
                  8. Marte 3B
                  9. Barfield 2B

With the improved bullpen and the solidified starting rotation (now that Sowers will get a full season instead of filling in for Jason Johnson), I really have that full faith in the team that I didn't necessarily have last year (mainly because of the bullpen and Jason Johnson)

That's such an iffy lineup. First, you need to hope Sizemore, Hafner, Martinez, and Blake stay healthy. Then, you need to hope Michaels, Garko, Peralta, Marte, and Barfield do something.

                          Re: The 2007 Indians Thread

Big Indians fan...moved from northeast Ohio down to Tampa, FL. Will be heading out to a couple spring training games and my son and I go to the Indians/Devil Rays games each year.

Concerned about the infield defense...still pretty young with Marte, Peralta, Barfield and Garko. I'm pulling for Luis Rivas as he could be a stabilizing utility guy with some experience.

Season will go as well as the bullpen takes them and I'm still not sold until I see it come together. I still can't figure the Wickman deal out...

I'm down with that one as well. It's looking like we can do something real good this year... provided the bullpen holds up.

This is the way I would have them on my lineup card:

                              VS RHP:

                              CF - Sizemore
                              2B - Barfield
                              DH - Hafner
                              C - Martinez
                              1B - Garko
                              SS - Peralta
                              LF - Delucci
                              RF - Nixon
                              3B - Marte

                              VS LHP:

                              CF - Sizemore
                              2B - Barfield
                              DH - Hafner
                              C - Martinez
                              1B - Garko
                              SS - Peralta
                              RF - Blake
                              LF - Michaels
                              3B - Marte

I think the Indians would be better served batting Barfield later, he was known for his clutch hitting in the minors and with a little bit more experience should be able to duplicate that kind of success. He has speed, but his ability to his in certain situations makes him more valuable.
