    Re: The 2007 Indians Thread

And Pronk hits his first homer of the year and it turns out to be the game winner! Tribe wins the series in Milwaukee and is headed home. I'll gladly take a 4-2 start, especially since they have all technically been road games thus far.

To the fans in Milwaukee: THANK YOU! You guys rule!

pronk strikes! i wouldn't be surprised if he started tearing the cover off the ball. i hope grady keeps stealing bases giving hafner and nixon or michaels alot of fastballs to hit. i also think we should call adam miller up and move byrd.

Well, we gave Jake Westbrook a contract extension so the trade talks can stop before they started!

Question for Cleveland fans...Why do the fans boo at Jim Thome? I know they boo him cause he's a White Sox now BUT the way Cleveland fans boo at him is different. They boo at him like he murdered him moms. I though Thome gave you guys great seasons. ANd he was one of the great sluggers from those 90's Cleveland teams that didn't cause a stir. Unlike Rameriez and Belle.

well i'll give you my take on the indians fans dislike of thome. jim thome was a FA in 2002 the indians were still dominating the AL central , they made a huge offer to thome something like 65 million dollars meanwhile thome was preaching that it wasnt about the money then he goes and signs with phillies for 85 million dollars the same phillies that had 14 losing seasons in a row. i think we indians fans felt betrayed by thome cuz he represented cleveland IE. hardworking and (what we thought) loyal. thats my take on the question

That's what I don't understand...yeah, he mentioned it wasn't about the money BUT when you got someone who's offering 20 million dollars more then that goes out the window. I can understand if the Phillies was offering only 1 million more then you would have a valid argument. BUT 20 million is a significant increase.

And you mentioned the phillies and loosing. Well if I could remember in Thome's last year in Cleveland they finished with a 74-88 record. AND 20 games out of first. COuld you blame him for swimming off a sinking ship? Watching Cleveland during that time you saw all of their big name guys was bolting to other teams. Rameirez, Colon, Lofton, Alomar all left and he was the only guy left. And if I could remember he played that last year in Cleveland with a lot of guys who were older than him. That's not a good sign.

I figured the organization owes him nothing BUT he doesn't owe them nothing either. BUT if Thome goes to the Hall of Fame he'll probably go in as an Indian. That's how good of a guy he is. And yet, Cleveland fans continue to boo him like he stole something. Strange.

I will never complain about only getting one hit as long as we win those games, haha. And my fears of Borowski being a mini-Wicky are gone for now, seeing that he's 5/5 on save opportunities.

Another series, another win! 3-3 so far!... If we can get the hits going with runners in scoring position we would be scary.

Hopefully we can take at least 2 out of 3 vs the Yankees or even dare I dream all three?

I went to the game on Saturday and I agree, the local fans here are way too tough on Jim Thome. There was a full row of idiot fratboy types right behind my buddy and I and they were yelling a bunch of obscenities and things I would never yell at anyone such as:

"BOO! Thome you ****ing suck! I hate your ****ing guts! I hope you DIE!"

Mind you, he was standing on third base when these guys were shouting this stuff and we were three rows away so I know for a fact poor Jim could hear it. Not to mention the simple fact that EVERY time he even stepped up to bat about 75% of the crowd booed mercilessly. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the vast majority of Cleveland sports fans are meatheaded morons.
