I agree, without Griffey the Reds lack that one guy you just have to watch. But if a contender offers the Reds a top pitching prospect, a mediocre OF prospect and are willing to pay half of Griff's contract, that's a pretty tough deal to pass up.

As a baseball and sports fan, you've got to accept that sometimes players change teams. At some point I'd like to see the Reds become a winner and I think they have the potential to do that and trading Griff would aid the process. Plus, as much as I love seeing Griff in a Reds uniform, it's always painful to watch the fading superstars playing out their final years for one of the worst teams in the league.

Well, Junior has hit one out and Homer has pitched 1-run, 2-hit ball through 7 innings. Nice!

Yeah, my FSN is messing up like crazy too, which is making me VERY unhappy.

Homer was pitching great, got pulled going into the 8th. He was still throwing 96 on his 90th pitch of the night.

Coffey trying for the save now. Hold it together pen.

I hope everyone got to see the ceremony before the game last night in Seattle. Well, at least part of the ceremony anyway (THANKS A LOT FSN CINCINNATI FOR DROPPING THE BALL, YOU IDIOTS!!!) Anyway, it was really cool hearing the Mariners fans chanting, "Junior! Junior!" and seeing some of the guys he played with there. Nice 16-1 win as well. Really, really neat. I'll have to watch the full ceremony online somewhere. If any of you find it (I haven't looked for it yet), post the link. I'll do the same.

I would've liked to have seen it, but FSN didn't broadcast the game in my area last night. wankers.

Nice start to the series in Philly. A team finally figured Homer out. He had a bit of a rough game. I missed his 1.2 innings pitched tonight (I turned it on in the 3rd when Gosling was pitching). Did Narron take him out so Homer's confidence wouldn't be destroyed because he had given up 6 runs through less than 2 innings or could he see Homer wasn't making any pitches? I might have left him in there to see if he could regroup. Why burn your bullpen in game 1 of the series?

Homer didn't have "it" tonight. He looked completely lost tonight man. I think it was to save his confidence. There were a few plays that could have been made to help him out, but still, regardless, he wouldn't have made it much longer if he would have stayed in.

Back home against the Cards. That game tonight was pitiful. I'm a little surprised they allowed the game to go on as long as it did. I know it's the last time the Reds visit Philly and they wanted to get the game in, but come on. Edwin was surrounded by puddles out there at 3B. By the way, did any of you see the ushers in the background chasing fans away behind home and also the Reds dugout? It's the 8th and 9th innings of the game and it's pouring down rain. If someone wants to sit there, let them sit there. If the ticket-holder were to show up when it stopped raining, which it didn't, then move them.

not every park is as fan-friendly as GAB is. My guess is Philly would be one of the worst.

...Which is an amazing statement considering the way things used to be at Riverfront. I still remember the first year of interleague play when my dad and I were chased out of green seats along 3rd base in the 4th inning of a game against Kansas City when there weren't more than 10,000 people at the game. There was nobody around us in the entire section and some usher came down and told us we had to go to our seats, which were actually behind home in the green. We just wanted to move around and relax. My dad told the usher that the Reds should be happy there is anyone at the game at all. I'll never forget that. There was that and 5 minutes after every Bengals game ended the ushers would come down in the blue seats and say you had to leave. It was a joke back then. Things have improved at the new stadiums.

                        Well, Narron is gone now.

Replaced by Pete Mackanin on an interim basis.

Really hoping the Reds can get a legit manager after the terrible run of managers they've had recently.

Someone made the comment on John Fay's blog that according to something they saw on the Yahoo ticker, Girardi had interviewed twice over the last 7 days for the job but turned it down because he would have to retain most of the coaching staff. Have no idea if there is an ounce of truth to that because it's the first I've heard it even mentioned. Usually a friend of mine with media contacts fills me in on things like this before they happen and he never mentioned anything to me about it.

Maybe the Reds can follow Kentucky's lead and hit a grand slam with the next manager. For sure though they need to stop getting the underpaid/overachieving manager and get someone that is proven and can win. The Reds need a MAJOR personality to make this team turn around. Of course, I realize that Krivsky needs to get the next manager better tools to succeed. But a nice guy is NOT what the Reds need.

that rumor about Girardi is probably just that - a rumor. No way he would come to Cincy and get less money than he was worth. I would love it, he's just the type of manager we need, but it's not happening.

On another note, I finally will be making it to my first Reds game of the season July 4th vs. the Giants. Last year I went to about 15 home games, about 10 of them before this point in the season, but I simply have not been able to get down there yet. I cannot wait to get to my first game of the season and promptly boo Baroid.
