    Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds

I was listening to 1530 homer last night and they said there is a website claiming the Padres have offered Mike Cameron and Scott Lindbrink for Adam Dunn. What do you guys think of this?

Linebrink I would take but Cameron? No Way! Dunn might hit for a "slightly" less avg but will hit more hr's, rbi's and is 7 years younger than Cameron. Plus if there is one position the Reds don't need, it would be another outfielder. I think, while Freel is out and maybe when he is back, the outfield should be Hamilton, Griffey and Hopper. That is if Dunn is traded.

I really hope this isn't a sign of what we can get for Dunn. I would have thought more and while Cameron will have that leadership quality, and better defense than Dunn, I don't feel like he is a worthy upgrade especially when we have young outfielders that are making a name for themselves. Can the Reds PLEASE stop going after OLD MEN? Ok, maybe Cameron isn't OLD yet (I am same age), but he certainly isn't young.

Well they where saying Cameron is in the last year of his contract so we could spend the 13 million we owe Dunn on who ever we want next year.

          Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds

I just see absolutely no value at all in getting Mike Cameron. The only thing he will do is bring in some leadership (not even sure about that) and improve Dunn's defense. Otherwise I will take Dunn's 200 k's a year over him.

To me it just doesn't make any sense to get a guy like Cameron. He is 7 years older, has a .251 career average and Cameron has hit less home runs since he came into the league in 1995 than Dunn has hit since 2001.

So the real question is, is Dunn only worth a Linebrink type player? That is the meat of this particular trade talk. Cameron is older, not very good, and is more or less just another outfielder to divide time with.

On the other hand, I don't have an answer of who we should go after and even if I did, it wouldn't matter to anyone but me.

Now they are saying the Yanks want Dunn and Weathers.
The Reds had scouts last night at the Yankees game to see who they would want for these 2.

                Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds

Well, it was a rather uneventful game. The fans booed Dunn during the game for what appeared to be a lack of hustle on a couple of occasions. The leadoff batter of the game, Figgins, slapped one into the gap in left that wasn't hit terribly hard and Dunn didn't run very hard after it. I guess he assumed "why bother" since Hamilton was right there? I don't know. Figgins got an easy double and I thought he might try for three since those two weren't going after it very heard. If anyone other than Hamilton picks up that ball it may have been a triple. Anyway, Dunn got booed again after taking strike three in an at-bat. I even yelled, "Swing the bat!" after that one but I don't think he heard me since I was in the upper-deck. The fans also booed Coffey for his outing. He pitched like garbage. I'd like to add, watching K-Rod pitch in person was just sick. That guy is amazing. Not a good game for the Reds.

EDIT: Just read John Fay's brief article on the game. Here's what he said about the Dunn play: "Figgins led off the game with a line drive to left that Adam Dunn lost in the sun - as it bounced right past him." Apparently Dunn was blinded. Okay, those that booed should take them back.

I watched the game and Dunn did act like he lost it in the sun, the thing is on the replay it didnt look like he was even watching when the ball was hit.
He is a major leaguer he should know how to deal with the sun at his home park! I didnt see anyone else have any problems with the sun.

If you look at his stats this year compared the last, he's cut down on the walks, which is good. He's given up more hits though, which is leading to more earned runs. Stuff I've read don't have him being much of a prospect but if he can continue to throw strikes, keep his K-to-BB ratio close to 3:1, he could contribute at the major league level at some point. Guy is still learning to pitch. Depending on whether Denorfia comes back with the A's and based on McBeth having the potential to maybe close some day, the Reds will have gotten the better end of the deal, especially if Jukich plays up here.

Didn't get a chance to see Homer's 2nd start today. How'd he look? His numbers look decent, looks like went into the 7th with the lead, but let the first few runners on, and of course Majewski not only lets those runners score but also gives up another 3 ER without even recording an out.

                        Homer went 6.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 101 pitches 64 for strike.

Looks decent. Was he getting ahead of hitters or pitching from behind? How'd his offspeed pitches look?

I only was able to listen to a few innings today but, from the sounds of it, he did pitch better. He left the game when the score was 5-3 and I guess two runners on. The bullpen ruined it again. Jeff Brantley was bashing the pitch calling though. Not sure if it was towards Moeller or Narron or Homer, just whoever was deciding the pitches.

Well there isn't much to be positive about these days with the Reds. They're probably frustrated. I always get a kick out of when Marty gets a case of the "goo."

Just have to rant for a few minutes here... but...

Why would the Reds consider trading Jr? All I hear from other fans, and even the commentators tonight, is that we should trade Griffey.

Personally, I think it'd be ignorant to trade him. Granted, he has had his injury problems in the past, but he's having a great year, and I honestly doubt that they could get anyone close to his calibur in return.

He's not making too much money, for the play he provides... around 9 mil a year, so why would you want to trade him? Just curious on your thoughts?

Personally, he's my favorite player of all time, and I've stood w/ him since day 1, through all the injuries, etc. I can see trading Dunn, who is whiffing every game, and is a true liability in the OF... but Griffey?

I hope Krivsky doesn't pull the trigger on a Griffey trade.
