Man, late to the game here.

Like you guys, I'm excited for the year. I dunno about playoffs, but again my hope is that the reds play meaningful baseball deep into the summer.

Lets hope we have good pitching, few injuries, and a little luck!!

I'd like to see Hamilton get an at-bat again in the game tonight I missed his in the opener.

Lilly-Arroyo tonight, should be a good one.

I'm so glad I didn't buy tickets this weekend. They actually moved the time up for today's game from a 7:05 start to 1:05 because of the cold. This stuff needs to get out of here. Bring on the spring weather!

4-1 start and I must say I think the team is playing well. The bullpen has done much better thus far, Gonzo at SS is such a boost to the defense and Dunn hitting second seems to be working out. The best part is, I don't think the team has played its best baseball yet.

Arroyo is pitching well tonight against the D'Backs. Doug Davis is awful to watch pitch by the way. He always does well against the Reds though.

              Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds

So the Reds followup an improbable come from behind win yesterday with some interesting decisions to say the least.

In case you missed it, here is what happened in the 7th inning. It was 2-0 Cubs, and eventually in the inning there were 2 outs and Clif Floyd was on third. Daryl Ward is up, Alfonso Soriano on deck.

Now what is the one thing you would never, ever, consider doing in that situation if you're the Reds? Seems obvious right, you would never consider intentionally walking Ward to get to Soriano. Well, whaddya think Narron decided to do? He had Arroyo intentionally walk Daryl Ward to get to Soriano! Are you kiddin me? I don't care if Soriano is 0 for 1000 against Arroyo all-time, I'm not walking Daryl Ward to get to the Cubs best player.

Anyways, Soriano legs out an infield hit, and it was 3-0. The next batter singles to center, Ward scored and it was 4-0. Eventually Derek Lee gets up with the bases loaded and promptly hits a 3-run double, 7-0 Cubs.

Sorry for getting on the soapbox, but I just can't justify intentionally walking Ward to let Soriano have a chance with a runner on 3rd. And of course, that terrible decision was rightfully capatilized on by the Cubs and they blew the game wide open.

              Ugh

Solid is an understatement. Although, not sure on the strike zone today... it seemed a little large, lol.

I don't know if it was so much "large" as it was wide to the left side of the plate. But at least the umpire was consistent the whole game so the Cubs should have adjusted.

Lohse pitched great today and I would love to see him get back into form. Honetly though, I think they should have let him finish the game. He wasn't losing his control at all and his velocity appeared to still be there in the 8th. Weathers always scares me when he pitches but more times than not, comes through.

Too bad the Reds couldn't get more than 2 hits today, but the win is the most important part.

Yeah.. Weathers scares the crap outta me. Every time he comes in, I just know that he's going to blow it.

But it was an excellent outing for both Lily and Lohse... I'm just glad we got it done. The 2 hits sucks.. but the Win counts either way.

Better than yesterday. I was with a bachelor party of mostly Cubs fans at the game and we watched from a rooftop across from left-field. I froze my butt off to watch the Reds get 0 runs, 6 hits and do stupid things in the field. My 2nd visit to Wrigley wasn't a good one. Still cool to see the Reds play on the road again. Only seen them play in Cleveland. Lots of Reds fans were walking around town too. Nice to see.

                          Lohse was awesome today.

At what point are the bats on this team going to wake up?

They better this week. With the exception of Philly, more division opponents. They haven't hit lefties at all this season. I don't know what their deal is. You'd have thought after seeing Lilly once that they'd make some adjustments for today but apparently not.

7-5 and in 1st place, I will take it.
We are on pace to win 93 games which I believe will win this division.
Lohse pitched gread yesterday, Milton pitches tonight so it looks like we will be 7-6! lol
