I actually went to the game tonight and boy did that turn around quickly. Stanton gives up the tying run then Coutlangus gives up a grand-slam to good ol' Lopie. 8-4 loss. Nice job. Saarloos actually didn't pitch that badly in a spot start. GABP was pretty empty, by the way.

Cincinatti really did a big minor league switch-up in the off-season. They only have 1-2 starters left from last year's Lookouts.Comment

Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds
Did Lohse hook up with Narron's wife or something? Man, I turn the game on, it's 6-1 in the 5th inning and Lohse is STILL pitching. Hit, hit, finally he gets pulled. But seriously, after the 4th inning, when the NATS have scored 6 runs already, why not just let him leave with the grain of sand of dignity he has left?
I wouldn't doubt that something or someone gets shaken up with the Reds before the 1st week of June at the rate they are going now. Not sure what could possibly fix this, but it is still broke and needs a fixin'.#WeAreUKComment

Lohse has dropped off completely since that bad start in Houston. They can't count on him anymore. That great game he pitched against the Cubs @ Wrigley seems so long ago now.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds
I just cannot believe how bad they are. I really thought they had a chance to be a surprise team this year and possibly compete for the Central title. Boy how wrong I was. Maybe they should pull a Marlins and get rid of EVERYONE except maybe 4 players. Start over. They should pull out a 15 team, 72 player trade.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds
I thought they could surprise this year as well. Bullpen will get a boost when Majewski and Bray are throwing again. But I don't think we need to blow the team up. We need another bat and a true leadoff hitter (because let's face it, Freel is not an everyday guy) and for the young pitching to come up and live up to expectations. Then, we're a contender.
Griffey should play the rest of his days in Cincy. I love the guy and have always felt that he could still be one of the better players if he stays healthy and so far this year he has proven that. Hamilton I think has the chance to be a superstar as long as he stays healthy (injury or drug abuse). Phillips is showing he is capable of being a very solid 2nd basemen. Dunn strikes out extremely too much and since he isn't showing any signs of changing that I say they trade him. Don't get me wrong, I like Dunn a lot, but he is the only valuable player we have that has enough downside to trade and get something in return.
Everyone else either has always sucked but we still give them chances (Milton), used to be good but now sucks (Stanton) or they show promise but when given the opportunity they suck (Freel). Those guys mentioned just now are just examples but applies to nearly every player the Reds have on the Major League roster.
On a side note, I am having a horrible day and with the Reds getting drummed by the Nats for a couple of days in a row, it only adds fuel to the fire. So take that in consideration with my debbie-downer post.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds
Yeah, I hear ya sportsdude. But it seems like we are always just one or two players away from being contenders but then we either get someone that is 40 and well past being good or the young guys don't work out. Just seems like it is the same issues every year for the past 10 years. I do believe we have some very good young arms in the minors and hopefully they will pan out. But our bullpen doesn't just need Bray and Majewski. They need them plus about 4 other guys that are worth a little bit more than crap (crap=current roster). I always thought that if Freel were given a chance to play everyday he would be good, but he has proven me wrong. Maybe he needs the uncertainty of playing daily to make him better? Who knows? But Harang and Arroyo will be consistently good, then we have no one consistent in the rotation after that. We have a horrible bullpen and no closer. Guardado can come back and be decent but let's face it, coming off Tommy John surgery he isn't going to be lights out for a while, if ever.

Re: 2007 Cincinnati Reds
Yeah, I didn't think he would get sent down yet either. Like you said, he'd been pitching subpar in all of his efforts... but really didn't expect it. Hopefully Majewski can step it up a little. Supposedly his shoulder is doing much better...Twitter - WTF_OS
