Its more important to be playing good baseball, period. It would be nice to have a comfortable lead but if its relatively close, the pressure is on regardless...besides even if you have a comfortable lead, you still would want to be playing strong baseball. Actually both cities would very like to see postseason play, but, yeah, as lean as it has been for the Cubs at times, its been even worse for the Brewers...of course it doesnt help that they dont want to spend money in years where they dont have young prospects like you see now. Sometimes you watch the Brewers and they seem like destiny's darlings but then youll flip over to the Cubs game and see that Mike Fontenot is producing IN THE THREE HOLE and its like wow. This could be an amazing duel to the finish.

Good points. The Cubs have a nice mixture of young talent and vets. Theiorit(sp?) Marmol is pitching lights out, Marshall, Hill, etc........It's just not the pricey FA's that are producing, the call ups are producing as well.
As much as I would love to see the Cubs stick it to the Sox, in my opinion, the Cubs were in the post season in 98 and 2003. The Brewers meanwhile, besides, 1982, haven't seen the post season.
The Brewers are a different team then when Pud Selig owned them. It was always 3 yrs and out for a prospect in the Brewers organization or pick up aJeffery Hammonds for a FA. This owner has doubled the Brewers payroll to $60 million and I don't think he will let Prince, JJ , a Hart, or Braun go. The new owner said they have enough resources to trade for a player that will help before the trade deadline. The Brewers went out and spent 10 million/yr for Suppan during the offseason
Winning is everything when it comes to resources. I saw Thursday's day game and it was sold out. There have been 16 sellouts the whole season. The merchandising is up and people are complaining about the long concession stand lines. It's all good if you winning. The Brewers would avg somewhere around 12 to 13 thousand a night when they were losing, now, it's hard to find a good ticket.
So, yes, this should be a donnybrook of a finish. The Brewers know they are young, but they also have Counsell and Suppan who have been there and done that.Comment

How the !?@$@ did they manage to lose 3 of 4 to the Reds?
They literally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory twice in the series.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers
Marquette Golden Eagles | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee PanthersComment

I wouldnt worry about it so much. The Reds have been playing decent baseball. I wouldnt be surprised if they gave the Cubs all they could handle.Comment

A lot of good I was at the game today.
The Brewers proved to me today, that they can't pitch, can't hit with RISP, can't field and can't manage.
Sounds like a team on the up and up, huh.
At least Estrada and Yost were nose to nose, maybe that sparks the team.Comment

Gallarado is pitching lights out. Tough decision who starts when Sheets returns.
First place again.
This could be a donnybrook finish or it could be a game of peaks and valleys. The Brewers peaked early and run into a brick wall.
The Cubs ran into a brick wall in the beginning , but recently the Cubs have peaked.
It all depends who is playing hot baseball down the stretch.Comment
