Too bad there's that other LA baseball team, you know, the Dodgers?

Yes, but unfortunately the best team with LA in the name plays in Anaheim.

Yeah, I think Weaver is on his way back. Because at last nights game (Friday) he pitched in AAA throwing 77 pitches and striking out 5 in I think 5 Innings, then today I saw him in the line at the end of the game high five his teammates.

We'll see. The Dodgers won the series against the Angels very convincingly last year and went to the playoffs.

Great. That's relevant to 2007 how? Most of the damage done to Angels pitchers in that series were against Pitchers that aren't even with the Angels anymore. Not to mention going to the playoffs in the NL wasn't terribly difficult. See the Padres.

Just as relevant as judging on a six game sample and declaring them the best team in LA.

Wasn't based on a 6 game sample. Was based on the Dodgers not being very good.

Yet they're most people's picks to win the NL West and represent the NL in the World Series, for good reason.

Yeah that means a lot. SI especially, they've done a brilliant job at picking teams.

NL West is up for grabs because there isn't a good team in the division. It's which ever team turns out to be the least crappy. Which explains back to back division titles by the Padres, and why an NL West team hasn't won a playoff series in how many years?

Thank you the West sucks! When they go to the Playoffs they will be out in the first round! I hope it changes, but I don't see it.

The NL Central is ALOT worse, as is the NL East in terms of depth.

I still don't understand it when people bag on the NL West. Pitching reeks throughout the division and some of the teams (Dodgers, D-backs, Rockies) have some considerable youth to build around.

now, why is the Angels thread turning into a talk about the NL west...should this be caring on over in the Padres thread and not caring over now into the Angels thread?

NL West was a lot more competitive last year than people make it to be. No team in that division had less than 70 wins, and it took two teams serious runs to make the playoffs at 88 wins, beating out Philadelphia who had 87 wins.

Winning it in 2005 was a given, no one wanted the division title. Last year the Padres fought tooth and nail in the last month to take the division title away from a Dodger squad that was equally as hungry.

                            Back to Angels talk.

the Angels may not play Cleveland this week as the weather still looks bad, MLB has been in contact with both clubs and say they will have a discussion on monday at 8 am that will determine what they will do.

Don't confuse 4 mediocre teams with quality. Again, when was the last time an NL West team won a playoff series, World Series?
