With Castro gone they lose defense off the bench but, with the exception of E5, that hasn't been too much of an issue. Who is the backup at SS now behind Keppinger? Phillips?

Hairston did come up at that position early in his career. Makes sense. I don't think he's played there in a while. Yeah, Phillips needs to stay at 2B. No need to screw with him shifting between positions.

watching this team play, you'd never know they were 8-12. You'd figure they were like 5-15 or something. I'm getting very sick of Corey Patterson at the leadoff spot. If management feels it's too soon to bring up Jay Bruce, I'm OK with that. But we can't afford to continue starting each game with an out. If Patterson plays, he should hit seventh or eighth, not first.

Baker didn't realize until Sunday that Patterson had been struggling so mightily on offense. He's hitless in his last 22 at-bats. In his last 11 games, he's 1-for-29.

"It didn't seem like that because he's not striking out. Most of the time when a guy is 0-for-something, he's got a bunch of punch-outs in there," Baker said.

Patterson has only struck out four times in 60 at-bats.
Oh man its going to be a long year. I will be in San Francisco on Saturday to watch the game.

david ross comes off the dl tomorrow, and thus a roster move has to be made. who goes? javier is our best off the bench guy, so he stays. harriston just got here. castro's already gone. coffey would leave us short in the bullpen.

mark my words .... if it's hopper i will refuse to give the reds a scrap of my money this year. i'd rather see freel go than hopper.
