    Jerry Hairston Jr. cf
    Jeff Keppinger ss
    Ken Griffey Jr. rf
    Brandon Phillips 2b
    Adam Dunn lf
    Edwin Encarnacion 3b
    Joey Votto 1b
    Paul Bako c
    Edinson Volquez p

I too like this lineup but not ready to jump on the Hairston bandwagon just yet. If I had my way Hopper (although now on the DL) would be the everyday centerfielder based on his production last season.

stupid fake arse injury just to bring up a catcher who couldn't hit a thing at AAA ..... i have liked david ross in the past, but bako has taken over this team the same way ross did when larue was here. and then to put hopper on the dl, sucks. that's all i can say. ross better come up here and tear the cover off the ball.

At what point do you think the Reds will realize either something is wrong with Arroyo or he has lost his ability to pitch effectively?

          3.2ip, 10 hits, 8 earned runs....wow...not much more to say I guess.

From watching the game on tv, there were times when he had his curve make hitters look silly. But, he missed his spots far too often. I'm almost hoping he's hurt because then there is an explanation as to why he's been so bad in '08 to this point.

word is out that all Arroyo throws is breaking balls.

Yeah and the likely reason for him only throwing breaking balls is because I am not sure he can hit any higher than 85mph on his fastball.

I don't know. He was great in spring and spoke about how strong he felt and how much velocity he had on his fastball. I have only gotten to see 1 game so far on tv in western NC and it was him pitching. Just doesn't seem to have any velocity at all. And if you are going to be a Greg Maddux "stuff" pitcher then you better be able to have pinpoint control to go along with it, which Arroyo obviously doesn't have.

                    Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds

I dare anyone to justify today's lineup:

                    Corey Patterson - CF
                    Jerry Hairston - SS
                    Ken Griffey Jr. - RF
                    Brandon Phillips - 2B
                    Adam Dunn - LF
                    Edwin Encarnacion - 3B
                    Scott Hatteberg - 1B
                    Paul Bako - C
                    Johnny Cueto - P

Please please please someone make this make sense. Patterson? No Keppinger? No Votto?

                    Talk about frustrating!

All these years and Baker still has not figured out that Patterson is not a lead-off hitter.

Anybody know if Jocketty likes Baker or not? Now that he's the GM, I would imagine he wants to get his own guy in there and I hope so much that he dumps Baker ASAP. I gave Baker a chance and now it's up. I want him gone. I mean seriously, Corey Patterson, Jerry Hairston Jr.? Who's next, Neifi Perez? Hey, at least with those players we're not clogging up the basepaths.

I agree with everything you are saying except Hairston. I can't really blame him for playing him right now as he is one of the hottest hitters on the team. But the second he cools off I would want him gone or at least benched.

And I don't know about Jocketty relationship with Baker, but I too hope it is sour.

I dont think it is...I saw a dusty interview on sportscenter...said he has known jocketty for years...doesnt mean there isnt some kind of internal feud. it sounded like they both get along
