Forums have been down most of the day for me, but had to again post about Dusty WTF was he thinking last night brining Cordero in with 2 outs in the 8th inning and why would you bring a closer in the 8th inning then have him set an inning to go back out there? Just doesnt make sense. To make things worse Cordero came up to bat in the 9th with the bases loaded for his second career AB and grounded into an inning ending double play. Dusty Baker is an idiot I dont care what anyone says he has done more bad then good in his short time with the Reds and dont even get me started with Corey Patterson dude is absolute trash. 0-4 last night and 0-1 today Patterson has not had a hit since May 20th against LA. He is hitting .193 and sucks!!!!
You are without a doubt unreal!
You are bashing Dusty for a move that led to a win!!!????
Do you think the 2 time World Series champion manager Terry Francona is a good manager??
He uses Papelbon for 2 inning saves all the time. You just look for reasons to bash Dusty and it is pathetic! Again the move led to a win and was actually backed by Marty and Brantley on the radio, I guess you know more about baseball then them too?? Also Dusty made a great move in the 9th of that game by letting Votto hit away instead of bunt. He ended up hitting a double and add an insurance run.
As for Patterson playing that game you must not listen to the games on the radio. The reason he started is because Griffey was suppose to start but told Dusty his leg was too sore. Well then he was going to start Hairston is CF and Janish at short but Janish told him his arm was sore. The only option left was to start Patterson in CF and Hairston at SS. Again get your facts straight before bashing Dusty.

Picking a LH 1B leads me to believe they are not going to resign Dunn and they are going to let Griff go. Votto will be moved to the OF where he says he is more comfortable. That is the only reason why I can see taking this guy.

Dont care what you say you can back Dusty all you want and Paplebon does not hit in the AL, so again irrelevant.

I have no problem with Dusty bringing in Cordero in the eighth for a 4-out save. I think some closers are too coddled as is, and I imagine Cordero could throw 40-50 pitches without much trouble if he needed to.

I was surprised as the selection of Alonso too. I'm sure there's a plan there but I think perhaps there were better plans to have.

Cool side note: As I'm checking draft tracker and looking at the rest of the Reds picks, I see they took Clayton Shunick from N.C. State, who happens to be pitching on TV right now against Georgia in a Super Regional.

I dont have a problem with that either, but Cordero comes up in the 9th with one out bases loaded and Baker allows him to swing away leading into a inning ending double play. Awful keep the bat on your shoulders and allow Hariston to hit.

but Hairston probably would've done the same thing. Besides we can second guess all we want, bottom line like Jake said is it led to a win for us that night.

Not really because there would have been only two outs thus taking away a double play and you always play the odds. That was Cordero's second AB EVER

so you're going to surrender an out and make it two outs just for a chance to get the leadoff hitter to the plate? I'm sorry but I don't like that strategy either. Cordero may be awful with the bat but what if puts a little blooper over the 2B's head? With bases loaded and the lead, I say swing away.

Ken Griffey Jr., 38, Trey Griffey, 14, and Jay Bruce, 21, were seated at a clubhouse picnic table when Griffey pointed to his son and said, "Do you realize he is only seven years younger than him (pointing to Bruce)?"

Griffey was talking about the press gathering in his basement when he was drafted out of high school and Adam Dunn said, "What did you serve, Tab or Fresca?"

Nice having some comedians around on the team. Dunner has always been a good one.

By the way, did you all see the Reds drafted WVU QB Pat White in Round 49 of the draft this past week? Apparently this is the third year in a row that he's been drafted by a team (last two years by the Angels). He hasn't played baseball since high school. I guess at that point of the draft they figure it's a complete shot-in-the-dark so what the hell?

You know what man? I am becoming a fan of Dusty Baker. I think he's the right guy for the youth movement in Cincy.
