I would rather have Hamilton also but we where not going to get one of the best young pitchers in the game for Dunn, you have to give something to get something and that is what we did.
And I will get over trading Hamilton as soon as he gets hurnt later in the year, and you know he will.

BY THE WAY PATTERSON IS GONE! sent to AAA.
Andy Phillips has been called up and Alex Gonzalez (sp) has been moved to the 60 day DL.
I didn't know they wanted Hamilton or nothing, but I did know we had to give something away to get something. I am just a Hamilton homer so I am still upset about it (although greatly thrilled that Volquez has turned out the way he has so far). And I would not be surprised if Hamilton did get hurt and is injury prone, but my thoughts aren't in the same line of thinking. My thought is that Hamilton played more games last year (in a single year) than ever previously before and had not played in 4 years (with the exception of a small number of games the year before). So it could have been just his body getting used to playing under that kind of stress. Now that he has had a full off season and spring training and now the regular season, he very well may be past the injury part. Although I do know he has had injury problems in the past (before he left baseball).

Again, I am a Hamilton homer. Hopefully Bruce will take my homer'ism from Hamilton soon

      Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds

Well, went to my last Reds game tonight for a while because I'm moving to Nashville in a week. Good way to go out. Arroyo looked good, clutch, clutch two out hitting tonight. And against a lefty as well.

I don't know how many Reds games I'll be able to see once I move to Nashville. For some ridiculous reason, Nashville is in the blackout area for the Reds, so I can't get MLB.tv without somehow logging in through a proxy. Maybe there is some Fox sports package I can buy for FSN Ohio. I don't know. Really hoping MLB fixes their stupid blackout map next year, because honestly I may not be getting cable in the new place.

See I think the Reds where worried about the damaged he caused his body during his "Drug years" and where worried he would never be able to play a full season.
Also they where more inclined to deal him knowing they had Jay coming up, they really needed good young pitching to go with the good young hitting they had coming up.
Again I would still do the Hamiton/Volquez trade in a heartbeat, this team needed pitching not another young bat.

Tough loss tonight. Hopefully with regular rest Harang will bounce back. Anyone know what happened to Dunn? Someone posted on John Fay's blog that he heard it was a family matter of some sort. Hope nothing bad happened to anyone connected to Dunner.

Just want to say for all the hype on Bruce he is off to a very nice start and it looks like this kid is going to be the real deal. The reds really have a nice core of young talent. Do you guys have any other big time prospects in the minors? I`m a big Indians fan but i always hope the reds do well

Couple of pitchers in the minors (Daryl Thompson and Matt Maloney) and Drew Stubbs (OF) are a few of their best prospects. They're probably stronger in their pitching prospects than hitters. Keep an eye on Juan Francisco, who is at Sarasota (Adv A) right now. Saw him play for the Dayton Dragons last year and was impressed. He's put up good stats in Florida so far this season.

I went to the game Friday night and it was great. Place was packed. 37,000 tickets sold. Extra innings victory, Chipper Jones had a bad game, and there was a fireworks show afterwards. I liked the pitchers duel. What was up with Yunel Escobar trying to catch Cordero napping after he walked and trying to take 2B? I haven't seen anyone try that in a long time and I don't know if I've ever seen it work.

The crowd was also pretty happy about Bruce going 4/5 and scoring the winning run. I'm pretty impressed with his plate discipline so far.

Yeah my friend an I were talking during the game about his bat control and plate discipline, especially when he was supposedly having issues taking walks in AAA. Been very impressed with the kid.

They'll be in good shape when Keppinger comes back and they trade Junior. Bruce can move to RF. Junior really needs to be dropped in the order and it hurts them when he hits 3rd and doesn't produce. Happened last night a couple of times. But Dusty and Junior refuse to drop him down. Anyway, as far as CF goes, I think between Hairston, Freel, and Hopper, they'll do just fine producing. It would be a better tandem than what Corey Patterson does. Hairston and Freel can spell guys in the IF at times too. I still think EE can but together a season where he hits at least .260 with 30 HR's. He's got it in him.

Alright this is just getting ridiculous already. Bruce 3-5 with a walk-off home run in the 10th?

Seriously, has there ever been a player as hyped as him do what he has in his first week in the MLB? Probably, but I bet they are few and far between.

Yeah, what a breath of fresh air for what has been a pretty disappointing year. I'd love to see Bruce be the spark that ignites this team; it's working so far, hopefully they can continue this hot streak and like I said before, ride it for a bit so they make up some ground then just play solid the rest of the way.

According to The Enquirer, the Reds put Fogg on the DL with back spasms and called up Gary Majewski. I'm guessing the back spasms weren't helping Fogg much yesterday.

I'm not the biggest Fogg fan in the world but with this move, who's going to be our fifth starter especially with Belisle in Louisville? Is Baker going to move Affeldt from the pen to the rotation for the first time since spring training?

Haven't the slightest idea. Affeldt makes some sense only because they have three lefties in the 'pen right now. Do you really need three?
