can anybody say they didn't expect this though? The Reds always play like on crap on these west coast road trips.

I think Janish will be OK he just needs some more time. I think his first few games you saw a guy who just incredible nervous in being called up and was trying too hard to make an impression.

I can't. I've mentioned it in a couple of posts. West coast trips always kill them. Have been as long as I've been watching them.

What happened to Hairston last night anyway? I haven't done any research yet.

He pitched well minus his wild pitches and error throwing to first. He really didn't help himself out last night at all.

I think I read he was dehydrated or something along those lines.

John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer thinks that Bruce will be called up when they get back from their road trip. I guess now that he is up to .369 they feel he might be useful?

I didn't see that stuff. Just from what I watched he did okay. I didn't watch a ton of the game.

Funny how I had so much hope this year for the pitching staff. Harang can never get run support, Cueto is just young and trying to figure it all out, Arroyo has been actually pretty good recently but prior to recently he was outrageously horrible, and Belisle/Fogg have sucked. The only consistently great pitcher that seems to also get run support is Volquez.

              Harang 2-6 3.50era
              Arroyo 2-4 6.02era
              Cueto 2-5 5.56era
              Belisle 1-4 6.75era
              Volquez 7-1 1.33era

Not exactly what I had anticipated at this point in the season.

YAY!!!! Griffey hit another one. 598. Just 2 more and we can trade his whiney butt to...well....anyone that will take him as far as I am concerned.

Have I beat the horse back to life yet?

Yeah he gave up one run on a wild pitch and also threw away a pickoff attempt to first when there was a runner on 3rd, allowing the run to score. He had good stuff, but they guy isn't anywhere near being able to put everything together at this point.

The Fathers went homer happy last night, crushing 4 against Reds pitching. Harang was hanging curveballs and Bray and Lincoln just threw fastballs right over the heart of the plate.

4 in a row lost now. Hopefully Volquez can stop the bleeding tonight.

"Corey (Patterson) hits some of those lefties pretty good," Baker said. "But he's just not swinging good or getting on base."

Patterson is 3-for-22 with two runs scored in his last five starts. He's hitting .220 overall with a .262 on-base percentage.
I expect some major changes when the Reds return home or I am done with this team for the year.

Dusty is suspended for two games after getting ejected? Did he bump the umpire or something?

                        Baker suspended
                        ENQUIRER STAFF REPORTS

Manager Dusty Baker has been suspended for two games following his ejection from Thursday night's game against the Padres.

Baker was ejected from the game in the seventh inning for arguing with home plate umpire Eric Cooper. Cooper had thrown third baseman Edwin Encarnacion out for arguing a called third strike.

Baker’s suspension is scheduled to begin tonight, when the Reds continue their series against the Padres.

That's great, but of greater concern: Shawn Estes is shutting out the Reds through 5. Are you kidding me? Shawn f'ing Estes. What a shocker, he's a lefty.

Reds won 7-2 last night. Only got to watch a few innings. Arroyo looked good, had some filthy breaking balls. 6.1 IP, 2 ER, 9 K's, 1 BB. He may just have his groove back.
