well i was really upset they gave mckanin the boot over dusty, but i don't think that 99% of the crap this year is dusty's fault. i would rather him play norris over patterson, but i blame ownership and the GM for not giving patty the boot long ago. if he's not up here, dusty can't play him.

Yeah I don't know. I thought about that in the beginning of the season because I was surprised they let me go over the winter. I thought they may try and bring him back cheaper once the season started but I guess the Marlins decided to give him a shot.

Definitely could have used him this year with all the injuries and lack of hitting.

Yeah I don't know. I thought about that in the beginning of the season because I was surprised they let me go over the winter. I thought they may try and bring him back cheaper once the season started but I guess the Marlins decided to give him a shot.

i think the thinking was that we had votto/hatty at first (though both lefty) and EE/kepp at third. he was arbitration eligible and would have demanded serious money for what we though would be a backup role. hindsight's 20/20, and i can't really blame management for their decision.

Okay. Makes sense. Yeah, you can't anticipate the injuries at SS, EE being all over the place with his hitting and fielding, and Hatteberg not being around. I don't blame their decision either if what you said was likely their thinking.

I think jake is the only Reds fan that actually supports Dusty

Again go back and re read my post I am not a big Dusty supporter.
I just kept telling everyone to get use to him because he has a 4 year 12 million dollar contract.
Every one was ready to fire him one month in to the season and I only said it wasnt going to happen, Dusty is going to be here for a long time. We might as well get over it already because the guy is not going anywhere.

First winning road trip since August of last year.

Anyone want to take a stab at who I've heard were the jealous ones making comments? Ken Griffey Jr, who to my knowledge doesn't sign many autographs, and Adam Dunn. Shocking isn't it? Who the F are they to get jealous over what Josh Hamilton was doing last year?

You want to know how to fix the Reds?
1. Get rid of Junior Griffey. He's been a problem since he got here. We can't have his bad attitude affecting all of these guys coming up, especially Bruce.
2. Get rid of Dunn. He is way too close to Junior and has taken the same attitude he has as time passes.
3. Fire Dusty Baker. Need evidence? See Corey Patterson and batting Junior Griffey, and his .239 AVG, 3rd every game. The guaranteed contract with him was dumb.
4. Move the fences back at GABP. The team they tried to build with Griffey, Dunn, Kearns, etc., it ain't working. Paul Daugherty brought this up here today: http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs...065/1007/col03.
5. Hire Ron Oester as new manager. You think he'd take kindly to guys loafing or being too lazy to take infield practice like this team? Hell no.
6. Find more guys like Jerry Hairston Jr. and Jeff Keppinger that are ballplayers with some energy.

A scout said during one of the Reds-Pirates games this week that he had never seen a team play with so little energy every night like the Reds. If I were a member of that team, I'd be embarrassed. I have tickets to the game tomorrow and I'm trying to get rid of them. I have no desire to watch a team with two horrible leaders like Griffey and Dunn to go with a terrible manager like Dusty.

I definitely agree with you on this one. Also, I agree we need to get rid of Dunn and Griffey, but that likely wont happen until after the season, just hopefully we don't re-sign Dunn. I don't think the reds will give up on Baker yet because the money they are paying him, I just wish we would've given Pete McKain(I don't remember how to spell it) an opprotunity before Dusty.

Bring in the Reds version of Ozzie Guillen: Ron Oester. He won't care whether he's Junior's friend or not and I doubt he'd blindly just bat him 3rd every game just because he was a great player years ago.

I read a while back that the turmoil or jealousy thing was at least partly because of the attention that Hamilton got in the clubhouse. And not just the fact that he had a great comeback story. But because of Johnny Narron having to babysit him day in and day out. I read that Johnny was basically his bit**. Even sitting through 3 consecutive viewings of Transformers at the movie theater. But in the clubhouse there was a lot of babysitting going on as well.

I am not completely sure of the validity of this but it does seem to play into what is being said here somewhat. I wholeheartedly agree (as I am sure you are aware if you read any of my posts this season) that Griffey and Dunn need to go. But if Hamilton was causing problems in the clubhouse with ihs special treatment, right or wrong, then it was probably a good move all the way around. I believe that I even read that Phillips wasn't too happy about it either.

On a side note, I can't stand that there are people out there that are so insensitive to say things like "Josh smokes crack" at baseball games. Obviously it was an incredible affliction that he has so far overcome and it just really pisses me off that people are so rude and mean. I like Hamilton, did since we signed him over a year ago, and really hope he has a tremendous career.

thank you kind sir. I felt like standing up and clapping after that. The only thing I have to disagree with is getting rid of Griffey, but if it were to happen I wouldn't be that sad.

I see teams like the Brewers and Rays who went young and the players look like they enjoy being there and playing baseball day in and day out. The more I have to look at Dunn not doing anything and the sad face Corey Patterson makes all the time the more I feel like giving up on this team. I won't, but man it sucks.

I just feel like the solution to turning around this team is so blatantly obvious and I wonder why the organization isn't doing anything. The team blows and even the best run still won't get them to the playoffs, so it's time to get rid of the veterans (at least most of them) for some prospects and get a manager who won't take ****.

Has anyone else noticed how lost Jay Bruce looks right now??
He has no clue at all when he is batting now, what happened to him?
Should they send him back to AAA for awhile or let him try to play through his slump?
I am just worried Dusty is going to quit playing him, he might be better off in AAA.
Do you realize he is 17 for his last 101, for a .178 average, by comparsion Patterson is 18-101 for a .188 average and as we know everybody wants to get rid of him.

Also Harrang had another bad outing last night and is now 3-11.
He was sent back to Cincy today to get a MRI done, not good not good at all.
I almost hope he is hurnt to explain his bad stretch.
