Looks like Jerry is coming back and the Wilpons view the season as a success. As I said earlier in the thread, this team really did do good things just to be in the race playing around .600 after Manuel took over.

What they need to do is take away any appearance that he is "on thin ice" or interim and give him a solid 3 or 4 year contract. The last thing they need is for folks speculating that he will be fired if the Mets get off to a slow start next year.

but...and I know this will never happen, but talk radio, Mets blogs and gossip columns should permanently banned...take it back to how it was...where all of this fake hysteria didn't exist with literally EVERY game.

yes...NFL mentality (16 games people), for the MLB season (162 games)

unbelieveable.....

you got folks talking about a team being 'done' in June when they're 8 games out and have over 100 left....it's a very tired act...


Too many people doing all of this mico-analyzing the game, but in effect, not even understanding the nuances of the very game they're speaking on.

I'm happy that Jerry Manuel might be coming back because I thought he did a great job but this year WAS NOT a success.

a 55-38 record in SPITE OF:

the AFTERMATH for a good month, month and a half that the entire team and Manuel had to deal with every day. The SAME questions about Randolph, asked by the SAME people. It was clearly taking a toll on everyone. The Randolph questioning never went away totally

a horrific bullpen

29 blown saves...something like 16 after the All-Star Break

Alou gone most of the year

those IDIOT fans/so-called fans...who chastised Santana back in June-July... talking about him 'not pitching like an ace'...totally ignoring the FACT that in EVERY game but ONE, he kept his NON-HITTING Mets in EVERY game. And as he said after his heroic game on Saturday, no one like being booed when they're winning

Church's rapid falling off once he got back in the lineup

Nothing significant at all from the second base position

Wagner gone for a couple of months

Maine gone for almost two months

Tatis gone

rookie infielders playing in left

Easley's season ending injury in September

Pedro's injury, his father's passing, and him just never getting into a groove

Pelfery looking pretty exhausted in his last 5 starts

to finish 2nd in the NL East with all of that madness going on is...and make no mistake about it...a MAJOR accomplishment

What the hell?! Did one of you Mets fans wimp it up and call the cops???

After all the trash talk up in the Phillies' thread all this year and the past two years from Mets fans, and yet they get protection?! That's pissy. I don't care what anyone says, that is pissy.

What cracks me up is that a couple of these Mets fans act like they can keep talking crap because they don't think the Phils will do anything in the playoffs.

Unless my thinking is off, in baseball...isn't winning the division and making the playoffs way better than not winning the division and not making the playoffs?

Or are some of these Mets fans just talking too much?
