Ahh...I love the smell of mediocrity in the morning. I can't stand to watch this offense. When you are relying on Omar Infante and Martin Prado to spark things, you are in the 2nd division.

JoJo is terrible, he should have been traded a long time ago. We could have got a bat for him to help out this lackluster offense or something. I don't know why they keep putting him out there every 5th day as everyone knows what's going to happen.

Casey Kotchman quickly becoming a favorite of mine...he doesn't hit for power, but the guy wears out the gaps and is money with the glove. If this team can keep the same lineup on the field for a few weeks maybe we can get on a roll.

I was going to say the same thing...

He has started to show a bit of pop in his bat too. Unfortunately the mets are waiting to make sure we don't get on a roll...

            Good to see Brian back.

Evidentially Chipper's gone AWOL so Mac came back at the right time...past 10 games he's barely hitting over .200 with only 1 HR & 3 RBIs

Jordan Schafer shouldn't be in the majors yet. He obviously isn't ready to face big league pitching with 42 SO in 102 ABs. Let's give either Blanco or B. Jones a shot in center. Hell even Infante can play center and he has had a hot bat lately so give him some starts there. Anything to give Schafer more time to work on his swing.

I was worried about that and alluded to the same thing before the season started...

I was looking at his spring training stats and even though he has a high batting avg. and OPB he has a lot of K's. Out of 48 ABs he has 13 strikeouts which I feel is very alarming.

This is spring training so some of the pitchers aren't putting the full effort so it's safe to assume he'd have a lot more Ks in the regular season...Again, that's my line of thinking but he's a good player (who also got suspended) and the Braves can't afford to stunt his development.
From what I've seen, he still needs help on pitch recognition (he swings at a lot of balls in the dirt) and he just can't seem to catch up to the fastball, especially letter-high inside. The biggest issue I find is that he's too pull conscience. If he tries to keep the approach to hit it straight-away or to the opposite field then he does well (he hit his 1st HR to straight center).

If Jeff Bennett is on this team tomorrow I will be tempted to drive across country and fire him myself. Coming out of the 'pen and walking hitters is unacceptable. Bad, bad loss tonight. Jair continues to be brilliant with nothing to show for it.

Beltran was out as **** at third, though.

Very true...even the Mets announcers said as much. Game should have been over in the 9th, but breaks like that happen. I look at Francouer leaving the sacks jacked in the 8th and getting nothing with runners on 1st and 2nd with 1-out when Kotchman and Francouer swing at back to back first pitches. Games like this piss me off to no end...

It will be interesting to see how the Braves respond today after basically snatching defeat from the jaws of victory last night. That kind of loss can really send a streaking team into a downward spiral. Let's hope that isn't the case.
