Im suprised we called up Diory Hernandez to replace Infante. I figured we would call up someone who can play centerfield. Hopefully Schafer doesn't get injured or were screwed.

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
So Bobby Cox has said for years that he spends the first 40 games of the season evaluating his team, and at that point he knows what he has for the last 122.
We are at the 40 game point and so far mediocrity is the name. This team is so inconsistent and has been for the last 3+ seasons. I can't even remember the last time we ran off a 9 out of 10 or even a 10 game win streak. It's looking at this point like another 3rd place finish in the NLeast."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
We can blame the offense for the majority of it. Our starting pitching has been nothing but solid. Lowe, Jurrjens, and Vazquez have a combined 13 wins and a 2.98 ERA. The bullpen has been decent for the most part. Soriano has been lights out (1.50 ERA and 24 SO in 18 IP) Gonzo hasn't pitched great but he hasn't been terrible either, he does have 25 SO in 18 IP. O'Flaherty has been a big help so far with a 2.30 ERA and no HRs allowed in 16 IP. And we all know how good Moylan can be. It's just a matter of time before he regains his old form. It's just those few guys like Carlyle, Bennett, Parr, Reyes, etc. that hold the bullpen back from being great.
Anyway back to my main point which is offense or the lack thereof. No matter how good the starting pitching has been the point is mute when you can't score any runs. This team can't keep getting shut out one game and then score 12 runs in another and expect to win 8 out of 10 games. I wish Frank Wren would get this through his thick head and make something happen to bring in a bat or two. We have so much pitching depth that he could easily make a deal to improve our lineup and I don't understand why he hasn't yet.Last edited by Kohlstar20; 05-22-2009, 08:40 PM.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
How about Kawakami last night? He looked like a top of the rotation guy in his performance last night. If we can consistently get that and can find a bat or two, then we will be in great shape. I am still going to be pissed when Glavine keeps Hanson out of the rotation.Comment

From the past couple of games it looks like Kelly's getting hot - at a good time w/Infante out for a few weeks.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Unfortunately just having a couple guys swinging a hot bat isn't going to get us very far. We would need everyone to get it going offensively at the same time in order for this team to pull off a decent sized winning steak.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
It just seems like we can't beat the guys we should beat (teams under .500). This past homestand we split the series in both the D-Backs and Rockies then swept Toronto...it's amazing.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
How long do you think it will be before the Braves make a move for an outfielder and who do you think they should go after? I wouldn't mind having Cruz from the Rangers and they've dealt with them in the past so that might be an option, although I'm not sure what the asking price would be. With Chipper in and out of the lineup daily, they have to find another guy capable of driving in some runs consistently.Comment
