      Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves

After the pathetic offensive display by the Braves this past weekend (against the Reds of all teams), all I can say is that I'm glad it's football season! They hung around and were just close enough to break your heart. On a positive note though, they should be pretty good next season. If they bring LaRoche back, the offense should be solid, especially with the surprise emergence of Prado this season. I hope they can land an outfield bat though. The rotation should be good again, and they have a few different options to look at regarding that. Personally I would like to see them bring Hudson back and get rid of Lowe but I don't know that there would be any takers for Lowe with that contract. I just hope they hold on to Vazquez and Escobar.

It's up at the end of the year.. same as Soriano. Though Gonzo has been pitched pretty well for the most part this season. I'd much rather have Soriano back, but I think I could live with Gonzo as the closer next year. Hopefully we get one of 'em back.

I was listening to the game on the radio the other day and they were talking about the possibility of Moylan closing next year. I know he's pitched very well lately, but I don't think I'd feel to comfortable with him closing next year. Plus, where would that leave our bullpen depth... especially with all of the appearances some of these guys have had this year. We've been too healthy pitching wise this year. Somebody's arm is bound to fall off next year.

It could be Moylan's. I think he came back a little too quick from his surgery and they've used him quite a bit this year.

Last offseason was starting pitching, this offseason needs to be relievers.

I say we try to get Coco from the Reds.

Wow...I go out of town for 5 days and the Braves haven't won since. This really, really sucks as this team is better than this. They must address the offense for next year and get younger. It may be time for Chipper to hang it up and I don't want to see Garrett Anderson or any other "veteran" playing on a regular basis next year.

I just don't want to see any prospects traded to get a slugger.

I have absolutely zero confidence in Soriano and Gonzalez anymore.

I knew Bobby would be dumb and stubborn enough to not let Hanson pitch the 9th inning. The kid was spectacular, hadn't had any travail since the 6th inning and probably would've heaved right though...

I can't believe his misuse of his starters/bullpen isn't more documented.

I think he likes to get the bullpen some stats like holds and saves even when the starter can go 9. Even in blowouts he doesnt let the starter try for a CG.

I cant wait to watch Hanson pitch for an entire season.. I think he will get 20 wins next year.

I know what you mean. His misuse of the bullpen has costs us too many games. He's tired these guys out. He keeps pitching Soriano even though his shoulder is fatigued. Bobby is going to ruin his career.

None of us post for an entire series and we sweep the best team in the NL. I'm going in hibernation through this week's games with NYM and Philly. Hopefully we can take six more and get back in this thing.

I've finally learned not to get too excited about this year's team. Every single time they would get within striking distance and make me start to believe, they would turn in a performance like the one they displayed against the Reds last weekend. It would take a miracle for us to get back in this thing with this little of the season left.

I read yesterday on MLB Trade Rumors that the Braves more than likely will deal Vazquez after the season and offer Hudson a contract extension. Too bad it's not Lowe they're dealing. I would much rather have Vazquez than Lowe but I guess it will be hard to move Lowe with his contract. Let's just hope Hudson stays healthy.

Hanson ftw. Guy has been as good as advertised...looking forward to a full year with him.
