    Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves

Damn you Braves!!! How many times are you going to tease me this season......or this month for that matter? I pretty much give up on you 4 days ago and then you sweep the Mets and keep the hope alive. I guess I'm going to have be a Cardinals fan this weekend and hope that the Braves can take care of business against the Nationals.

Let's all just make a pact to not post through the Nats series and see what happens. See you guys on Monday.

That's a good idea. By the time Monday rolls around, we'll definitely know a lot more about our chances. Let's just hope that the Cardinals don't clinch tonight and start resting people.

Atlanta has 7 games remaining, all @ home (3 vs. FLA, 4 vs. Wash)
Colorado has 6 games remaining (3 vs. MIL, 3 @ LAD)

**Btw, we don't face Josh Johnson.

Even if Atlanta wins all 7, Colorado must lose at least 2 games to be tied in the WC.

          ...I won't say anything else.

The wheels will fall off in this series. Guaranteed.

            The Marlins are bitches.

How many more games in a row can we win? I'm trying to think positively about this week but I keep waiting for the wheels to fall off.

This team is 51-30 since June 28th, the wheels aren't likely going to fall off. We just are a really good team, the problem is we weren't a good team when the season started. Frank Wren has done a great job to get an offense to support this pitching staff.

I'm convinced we are a playoff caliber team but we might not make it. I think we'll go 6-1 or 5-2 this week. I think we can sweep the Nationals and win 2 of 3 from Florida. Hopefully Colorado has a rough week to help us out.

Regardless though 2010 is going to be our year, we are going to be really good.

so long as we hold onto the majority of the squad. I'm concerned about losing laroche during the offseason, and now our pitching staff is so tanked up, one of our 6 starters will look to leave, which takes away our best backup starter if any of our guys go down early in the season.

don't get me wrong, i agree wholeheartedly, and i think this braves side for the whole year could be 7/8/9 games better than we will end up, but i just want us to hold this squad together one more year, and then we've got our shot!

                    I stand corrected...

Shaking off a 101.5 degree temperature, Johnson has been slotted in as the starter in the second game of the series at Atlanta. The Marlins ace was scratched from his start on Sunday against the Mets due to a flu. The right-hander was examined on Monday and cleared to pitch

                      Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves

......and the saga continues. Looks like the rest of the week tentatively shakes out like this:

                      Hudson (2-1) vs. Johnson (15-5)
                      Vazquez (15-9) vs. Nolasco (12-9)

                      Hanson (11-4) vs. Mock (3-10)
                      Lowe (15-9) vs. Hernandez (8-12)
                      Jurrjens (14-10) vs. Detwiler (1-6)
                      Hudson (2-1) vs. Martin (5-4)

I suppose that if we aren't lucky enough to have won the wildcard by Sunday, Vazquez would be the starter in a 1 game playoff with the Rockies should it come to that.

Braves had ample opportunity to win this game.

Its probably over now ... what could have been had Bobby not totally screwed the bullpen on numerous occasions this season.

Got to win out and get some serious help now.

3 GB.........5 Games left........that could have been the dagger last night guys. I wish I would have just went to bed after the Braves loss rather than staying up to watch the Rockies celebrate their victory. That was disgusting.

I had to work and missed last night's game...what a downer to find out they had lost. I still have hope that they can win these last 4 games. I said it a few weeks ago: if the Braves can get to 90 wins, they'll be in the post season.
