    2010 Los Angeles Dodgers

Never too early and I'm finally over the NLCS.

Are The Dodgers On The Verge Of A Phillies-Like Run?

Oh, and Manny will exercise his option(shocker). TrueBlue breaks down his contract.

Your best source for quality Los Angeles Dodgers news, rumors, analysis, stats and scores from the fan perspective.

So what do we do in the off-season? Pretty clear what we NEED to do, but only time will tell if we actually do those things. Lock up swags, dre, o-dogg and get an ace. But the biggest question isn't even baseball related. Will the McCourt situation affect our team? I sure hope not.

Take it for what it's worth, but I heard on Colin Cowherd's show today that the Dodgers are getting ready to unload some big players because of the McCourt mess. Apparently money is going to be a huge problem for the club next season.

Sell the team. Now. GTFO, Frank and Jamie. GTFO.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt on Wednesday filed papers opposing his wife's demand to be reinstated as the team's chief executive, citing insubordination and an affair she allegedly had with her bodyguard.

Frank and Jamie McCourt are reportedly worth $1.29 billion. (Vince Bucci / Getty Images)

The documents were submitted one day after Jamie McCourt filed divorce papers seeking to regain her $2 million-a-year job.

In a filing submitted by the Dodgers that opposes her return to the team, Dodgers attorneys allege that Jamie McCourt took a trip with her bodyguard, Jeff Fuller, in early July to Israel on team business, but then headed to France for 2 1/2 weeks and billed the Dodgers for the trip. Jamie McCourt is also accused of not giving her husband any information about her assignments as chief executive and not providing the team with her schedule of public appearances.

In a declaration filed by Frank McCourt, he references Fuller as well, saying before his wife went on the trip she asked him for three things — one of which was to have Fuller be her driver.

Dodgers attorney Debra Fischer told The Associated Press that Fuller and Jamie McCourt told the team they had an affair. Fuller and Jamie McCourt were fired earlier this month.

Jamie McCourt's attorney, Dennis Wasser, declined to comment.

Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon postponed the divorce hearing until Nov. 5, saying he needed to review all the documents. Neither Jamie nor Frank McCourt were in court on Wednesday.

In a declaration filed Tuesday, Jamie McCourt claims her husband plotted to boot her from the team's front office as a way to "humiliate and ostracize" her. She said she was excluded from management decisions and had lodged a workplace harassment complaint with team attorneys.

"Frank has no right to purport to terminate me. We are co-owners of the Dodgers," she said. "Not only has Frank publicly held us out as co-owners of the franchise, he has also admitted this fact in front of our estate planning counsel."

Frank McCourt fired his wife last week after the Dodgers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Philadelphia Phillies.

He said the couple entered into a marital agreement in March 2004 that gave him ownership of the Dodgers. That decision was made by Jamie McCourt to insulate herself from any debts or creditor's claims that might result from purchasing the Dodgers, documents filed by Frank McCourt's attorneys state.

The team was losing more than $75 million a year when Frank McCourt purchased the team, and Jamie McCourt, who is an attorney, wanted to protect her real estate and other investments, the filing states.

Frank McCourt wrote that he allowed his wife to identify herself as "co-owner" for the "interests of family harmony" but her claim has damaged the Dodgers organization.

"Reports of these statements have been detrimental to the Dodgers, my other business ventures, and me personally," Frank McCourt wrote. Her claim has "thrown an unjustified cloud over the ownership of the Dodgers."

Jamie McCourt's filing states she is seeking reinstatement as well as access to perks including travel by private jet, stays at five-star resorts and use of the Dodgers owners' suite. She wants $321,000 a month in spousal support if reinstated to her former position. If not, she believes she should be paid nearly $488,000 per month.

The dispute comes as the Dodgers enter a busy offseason and could be a distraction when spring training arrives in February.

The team has the most potential players eligible for free agency with 16, including Manny Ramirez, who must decide if he will exercise his $20 million option for next season and return. Manager Joe Torre is headed into the final season of his three-year contract and Ned Colletti was recently given a long-term contract extension as general manager.

Haha then I would just wonder why we traded him in the first place.

Frank McCourt claims to be low on cash.

In the latest filing in his contentious divorce, Frank McCourt said his personal account was low on cash, raising new questions about the team's ability to sign top players and retain the core of the National League West champions.

Responding to his estranged wife Jamie's request for monthly financial support, McCourt said his checking account had fallen as low as $167,000 in recent weeks, before he received $1 million from a quarterly distribution. In a separate filing, Jeffrey Ingram, chief operating officer of the McCourt Group, said McCourt's annual income from the team is capped at $5 million under a credit agreement with Bank of America.

Bert Fields, an attorney for Jamie McCourt, said Frank McCourt's claims raise the question of whether he can continue to field a team with a $100-million payroll.

"If it were true that he really doesn't have the resources to pay anything, then you'd have serious concern about his ability to run a baseball team," Fields said.

"If Mr. McCourt meant what he said, how is he going to pay all these guys?"

Frank McCourt claims sole ownership of the team. His attorney, Marshall Grossman, said player payroll would not be a problem.

"The players play for the Dodgers and get paid by the Dodgers," Grossman said. "Frank doesn't meet the payroll out of his own bank account any more than any other shareholder of any other company does."

With fans concerned despite repeated assurances of "business as usual," the Dodgers plan to make what Grossman called "very positive announcements . . . in the near future."

Grossman declined to say Wednesday whether those announcements would involve player acquisitions.

Jamie McCourt, in her court papers, cited Frank McCourt's net worth at $835 million. She has asked the court to order spousal support of $488,000 a month and reinstatement of such ownership perks as travel by private jet, country club memberships and access to team doctors.

In his court response, Frank McCourt said he gets "the same health insurance" and benefits as other team employees and said his only perk is "payment of certain minor expenses relating to [my] automobile."

He cited Jamie McCourt's liquid assets at $3.5 million and said she ought to make $231,000 in overdue payments on four properties so as not to harm his credit; she owns the homes but he co-signed for the loans.

"He's not the first guy to try to get out of supporting his wife by crying poor," Fields said.

Frank McCourt's lawyers also asked the court to set a trial date no later than Feb. 8 to resolve the issue of who owns the team. They estimated such a trial would take 10 days and would allow for a decision "before the commencement of the 2010 baseball season."

Jamie McCourt's lawyers countered that the trial need not be rushed to conform to the baseball schedule, citing repeated comments from Frank McCourt's lawyers that the divorce proceedings are not detracting from the Dodgers' day-to-day operations.

                        Re: 2010 Los Angeles Dodgers

                        So it begins.

Dodgers Waste Golden Opportunity, Decline Arbitration For Wolf, Hudson

I don't know what to say anymore.

The Dodgers declined to offer arbitration to all seven of their Type A and Type B free agents today, most notably Randy Wolf and Orlando Hudson, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times. This means the Dodgers will receive no compensation if any of the free agents sign elsewhere.

I already covered the reasons for and/or against offering arbitration, and I expected to be disappointed today. But not to this extent. On some level, I can understand the argument for not offering arbitration to Hudson, even if I don't fully agree with it. However, not offering arbitration to Randy Wolf is just wrong. Wolf is the second best starting pitcher on the free agent market, and is sure to get a multi-year offer somewhere, so he would have likely declined arbitration.

In Wolf and Hudson, the Dodgers had two players that should be welcomed back if they chose to accept arbitration, and they only would be signed to one-year deals. Sure, they might be a tad pricey, but both provide value at or exceeding their worth, and again, it would just be for one year, and only if they accepted arbitration. Could it be that the Dodgers are so strapped for cash that they can't accept even the slightest risk of paying two talented players for one season?

Or is it worse than that? Do the Dodgers not want the burden of having four extra draft picks in 2010, the burden of four extra signing bonuses, possibly totaling somewhere in the $4 million range?

What other excuse could there be besides money? Because if this were strictly a baseball decision, both Wolf and Hudson would have been offered arbitration.

These are short-sighted moves by the Dodgers. Look at this team. The 2009 Dodgers only had the best record in the National League, and they were fueled by a young group of players once drafted by the Dodgers: Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier (OK, he was drafted by the A's), Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Jonathan Broxton, James Loney, Russell Martin. Unfortunately, you can't continue the process of integrating fresh, new talent into the mix if you don't have the picks to draft them, or if you don't utilize the ones you have. The Dodgers may have potentially saved some money with today's decisions, but they missed a golden opportunity to invest in the future.

It is now apparent to me that general manager Ned Colletti's hands are tied by purse strings. He will have his work cut out for him this offseason, which seems like it could be a long one for Dodger fans.

If the Dodgers are put of for sale Mark Cuban is interested in buying the team according to the local news in LA.

I think he's broke. Remember when he first got the team people were talking about how they didnt think he could pay salaries. well, it looks as if thats happening right now.

We have no pitching. We cannot go into the 2010 season expecting to compete. One thing i do know, is if the Dodgers dont get starting pitching i am not going to be buying Extra Innings this year. IF he doesnt want to support the team, either will i.
