    2011 Cincinnati Reds

Here we go guys. I'm getting the itch, since we're nearing the end of both college football, and pro football. So how are we going to do this year Reds fans?!

can't wait till February! The Super Bowl (if Steelers make it), Nascar, Nascar 11 The Game, and Spring Training!

we're shaping up to have a better year than last year and hopefully not being the best of the worst (killing bad teams but end up being killed by good teams)

      Apparently the Reds resigned Votto
That is great, 3 years extra of him staying.

It's not really 3 years extra though. They already had him under team control for those three seasons. They just avoided having to go to arbitration with him for those 3 years. I was hoping they could buy out some of his free agent years and sign him for 4 or 5 seasons. Now the reds may have saved some money here, but it doesn't seem like much. I like it though because they don't have to go to arbitration with him, and I believe this could possibly improve the relationship between the reds and Votto and maybe help them come to another extension in his final year here before he hits free agency.

so what do you guys think about Dontrelle Willis? i looooved watching him during his first couple seasons with FLA. it would be sick if he could bring any of that back with cincy

also, what about the Renteria signing? i reeeaaally think Dusty needs to give Janish a chance to start. Janish is legitimately one of the best fielding shortstops in baseball, and he brought his average up to .260 last year. is Renteria really gonna be THAT much better with a bat? i don't think so.

I personally dont think Willis will ever pitch in the big leagues for the Reds.
There is a reason he hasnt pitched in the bigs for 3 or 4 years now. If he had anything at all as a LH pitcher he would have played in the bigs the last couple of years.

Willis lost it all when he left Florida. I cant remember who (maybe Marty B) but some commentator said, while he was dominating, that his motion was way too wild to be consistantly good in the bigs. Like the signing though, might as well see what he can do.

Renteria I think will mostly be like the Jim Edmonds signing last season. Get an experianced guy in the club house to help mentor and lead the young players. Dusty had said after the signing that Janish was still his everyday short stop so his position is safe.

I like to tell this story not to brag but to show the kind of guy Paul Janish is... I acctually met him and got his autograph late last season. Also got Cueto, Heisy, and a few others. They were all nice enough but Janish took the time to ask my name, shake hands, and thank me for wishing the team luck in October. Hope that guy is in a Reds uni for a long time.

I have a great Janish story too.
Last year we got my wifes work tickets which are the first row behind the Reds dugout.
Before the game there are all kind of people right in front of us trying to get autographs.
The whole time my 3 year old is yelling at Joey Votto (she is in love with Joey already) wanting his autograph. She just keeps yelling Joey, Joey and has a ball we are trying to get him to sign. Joey never sees her or us and only signs a couple of autographs and heads back to the clubhouse. Well Janish was watching my daughter the whole time laughing. He follows Joey into the clubhouse and cames back out and motions towards me. He then throws me a ball signed by Joey Votto and tells me it is for my little one.
It was the coolest thing an athlete has ever done for me. To this day Janish is my favorite Red.

That is an awesome story. Great for Janish doing that. And hoping he can play some offense now, because he is great defensivly.

So I was looking over my Photos from the 2010 season, and I did a little photoshop work:

This is from the May 18th game vs. the Brewers. Votto Hit a game winning single in the bottom of the 9th off Trevor Hoffman allowing Chris Heisey to score the winning run:

Yeah. I plan to do a Vertical 3 picture frame of Bailey pitching, the Votto picture, then the Heisey Picture.

I've also thought about just 8 x 10-ing or larger for the Heisey pic. Problem is I don't know how distorted it will get.

Thank you guys for the compliments. Those were taken from 3 rows behind the visitor dugout.
