Renteria I think will mostly be like the Jim Edmonds signing last season. Get an experianced guy in the club house to help mentor and lead the young players. Dusty had said after the signing that Janish was still his everyday short stop so his position is safe.

I like to tell this story not to brag but to show the kind of guy Paul Janish is... I acctually met him and got his autograph late last season. Also got Cueto, Heisy, and a few others. They were all nice enough but Janish took the time to ask my name, shake hands, and thank me for wishing the team luck in October. Hope that guy is in a Reds uni for a long time.
Thats pretty neat. My wife got us opening day tickets so I am hoping to get a chance to meet some of the guys and get some autographs. I have never been to a MLB game so I am very excited for March 31st to come. I use to go see the Indianapolis Indians when they played at there old stadium and always had a lot of fun so I can just imagine what a major league game is like especially opening day.

Going to see the Reds on Opening Day will be your first MLB game ever? Man, what a first game to go to lol. I've never been to an Opening Day game but hope to eventually. Great American Ballpark is a great stadium to watch a game.

My wife did not get me anything for Christmas but said she had something that was big that she was paying on and I would find out around Valentines day, so the other day she couldn't keep it in any longer and told me. I was extremely surprised since she is a Cubs fan, lol.

Reds opening day is special and really for a lot of people a once in a lifetime chance to see in person. Hope for good weather because all the festivites and just having baseball back with the sun shining down is something else.

I have always wanted to go see the Reds on opening day because of the history thats there with opening day plus I was born a Reds fan. Most of my family is Reds fans except for my dad he was a Yankee fan. I have always talked about it to my wife that opening day is just a little more special in Cincy than anywhere else because of the parade and them shutting down school for it so she decided to surprise me.

                Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds

They shut down school for Opening Day in Cincinnati? That is so awesome.

Great pictures, Chubby. One thing, on the Heisey winning run... it looks like his left arm is amputated!

Us Reds fan have a lot to look forward to this year. Looking over that roster posted a few above, a couple of names I didn't even knew we had gotten: Willis, Renteria. I was a bit worried when we got rid of Orlando Cabrera since he's the playoff good luck charm, but picking up Renteria kind of replaces him. Willis... hey, low risk, high reward.

Looking forward to seeing this team gel even more this year. Last year was a huge stepping stone. Let's hope they can keep it going this year! I like how we didn't mortgage the future for one postseason appearance (a la the Brewers for Sabathia). I think that will ultimately help us in the long run.

One more thing: I'm getting MLB.tv for their free month trial, so I can actually watch Reds games this season! I think I'm going to be as into the Reds this year as I've ever been with them, being able to actually watch, and not just read about, the games. Looking forward to spring and summer nights of coming home from work (or during the day) and relaxing and watching some Cincy Reds baseball.

I noticed that. I think it's the dirt that's coming up and covering his fingers. Also partly the angle I took the picture from.

Two things I love about that pic is Billy Hatcher Jumping up and down and the look of sadness on Trevor Hoffman's body posture.

Yeah, I figured with the angle, dust, and PhotoShop effects, a little piece of Heisey got lost in the sauce.

I love the crowd and the singular moment of triumph: the arms raised pose. I love when goals are in scored in hockey and you can see all the fans jump up and out of their seat in unison to the sound of the goal horn and it's a minute long celebration.

I like the top right corner. Someone's already in mid-air jumping over the dugout fence to rush Heisey.

I never got school off for opening day. No doubt I'll be taking work off again this year though.

Those pictures are sweet. Would it be possible to get one like these of Bruce making contact on his walk off to win the NL Central? Or maybe of him on the same play charging down the 1st base line with his arm in the air?

Just getting into baseball. Figured I'd follow the Reds since their only an hour away and I could see them play in person. Been reading up on the team and rosters, and definitely like the stories you guys posted about the young short stop.

I have a question, what happened to D. Willis? I remember seeing him on sportscenter dominate with the Marlins. The. He just fell off the planet.

Been to 8 or 9 Opening Days, you will have a blast!
Good luck trying to get players autographs on Opening Day tho.
Not saying it cant happen but I have noticed they dont sign as many on Opening Day and you will be fighting with 45,000 other people that day.
I attend about 60-70 games a year (my work has a box at GABP) and I have become lazy about attending Opening Day. I just dont feel like fighting the crowd or paying for expensive tickets. As I write this from my desk at work I am staring at GABP, I work right across the street.

Grew up in cincinnati, I never had my school give us a day off because of opening day, but I scheduled myself off just about every opening day. My mom knows how much I love baseball, so she never said no

The great thing about having Direct TV in Charlotte is that I pick up Reds games, all of them. I am excited for this season, hope they build on last year.
